Swedish arms exports declined last year – New Technology

The export of Swedish military equipment fell by 4 per cent last year – from 8 billion to 7, 6 billion.

Norway, USA and Finland bought most weapons from Sweden last year. It turns out the results of the Swedish arms exports that took place in 2015, from the ISP, the ISP.

The Norwegians acquired including new copies of armored vehicles within the family CV90, as well as upgrades of existing vehicles for a total of more than 2, 1 bn.

US-traded ammunition, including grenade rifle Carl Gustaf and marine checkers and marine systems of communication for SEK 667 million and Finland bought anti-tank systems from Sweden for SEK 541 million.

the Director-General Christer Ahlström believes, however, that the reduction of the export value of 8 billion by 2014 to 7, 6 billion in 2015, is only temporary. He predicts the contrary that the arms deals between Sweden and abroad will increase in future.

– Next year will likely exit of Gripen E to Brazil to be noticed in the statistics as well as a large part of technical assistance in connection with the deal, he told New technology.

Gripen aircraft manufacturer, Saab is now also export license for a new version of ERIEYE, called the Global Eye, to the UAE.

the deal – which recently handled by the ISP and Export Control Council – said to be worth nearly 11 billion, but has become controversial.

Can exports to the UAE to be next year?

I do not want to discuss ongoing cases, says Christer Ahlström.

A total of 81 percent of Swedish exports of military equipment in 2015 went to EU and EEA countries, and established partner like Canada, South Korea and the United States.

the remaining 19 percent the proportion is reported to have gone to around 25 countries, including India and Thailand were the major destinations.
