Man arrested for murder in Germany in Kiruna – Expressen

A man in his 30s has been arrested in Germany on suspicion of the murder of a woman in Kiruna.

During the day there have been preliminary hearings and the man will be extradited to Sweden.

– There are indications that he surrendered himself to the police in Germany, says Lars-Ivar Johansson, investigator at the police.

the man should have been arrested in Frankfurt on Wednesday and efforts to bring him to Sweden has begun.

It is unclear why the man was just in Germany, but police suspect he left Sweden because of the suspected offense.

– Much also suggests that he surrendered himself to the police in Germany. Why he fled to Germany just we do not know yet, says Lars-Ivar Johansson.

The suspicions against the man arose immediately after the police had found the dead woman.

– In conjunction with site investigations and interrogations with people close to her, we could link this man to the event. They must have had some kind of relationship, but I do not want to go into any more detail, says Lars-Ivar Johansson.

The woman was found dead in his home on Tuesday afternoon, but police suspect she then had been dead at least one day. Since it could not rule out criminal police launched an investigation regarding the murder.

On Wednesday arrested 30-year-old man in his absence, and on Thursday held preliminary hearings. It quickly became clear that the man arrested, but there is still some confusion about when before he will be handed over to Sweden.

– First European arrest warrant handed over to the German police, then they will certainly have a negotiating thereof. There are a number of steps that must pass before the handover is executed, says Lars-Ivar Johansson.

Some of the police are now continuing the investigation with witnesses and review of existing evidence. Among other things, there is a lot of technology to go through in the form of cell phones and other items.

– We’re about to secure all the evidence that currently exist, says Lars-Ivar Johansson.
