Loaded on rail cars transported parts of a wind turbine from Denmark to Långsele in northern Sweden on trains.

It was the logistics company Railcare Logistics, which together with the manufacturer Siemens Wind Power tested the possibility of transporting tower parts for a wind turbine with destination Långsele production site Nyborg, Denmark.

Railcare have done calculations showing that it is possible to transport up to one and a half wind turbines on a single train set. Compared with road transport carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by 90 percent.

For test shipment took Railcare front adapters for attaching the cargo on the wagons. Along with the manufacturer chose the tower parts to be shipped.

Next, in the spring of 2014 also test the transport of the turbine blades. For transportation of turbine blades by rail are significant benefits compared to road transport by truck, which might otherwise interfere with other traffic.
