Tieto builds Stockholm school platform - Computer Sweden

contract, which is written today, involves the delivery of IT support for children and student records in the new school platform. The contract runs for seven years, with an option for another eight, and the deal is worth a total of SEK 330 million over that time.

class=”paragraphIntro”> total, Stockholm city has allocated SEK 340 million, with the option to contribute additional 60 million, to establish the new school platform. The grant will be enough until it is set in the technical operation.

class=”paragraphIntro”> additional four contracts remains – they include licenses for standard software, configuration of standard applications, development of business requirements where the standard software does not yet offer the functionality, system tests, and support the integration and acceptance testing. Total support platform around 300,000 users at 1,400 kindergartens and schools.

class=”paragraphIntro”> The new Education Platform replaces several systems including School Intranet used for contact with parents of primary school. Although the system is delivered by Tieto and has been heavily criticized. Already in 2009, threatened the City’s IT manager Anette Holm to throw out the system because it was so poorly implemented.

class=”paragraphIntro”> idea is that the new platform should be more transparent and that there should be more opportunities to replace functions. One requirement that has come to is that there should be support for mobile phones and tablets.
