Coolest the technology behind the horror-rides at Tivoli Grona Lund – New Technology

Under the hood. For visitors of the fairground’s all about excitement, but behind the scenes it is just as much focus on security at the theater. Under the hood takes a look at the technology behind two of Grona Lunds aplenty.

Grona Lund opened in 1883 in a place that has previously been both malmgård and tavern. Today tests the 1.4 million people the attractions that makes it tickle in your stomach. At the amusement park in Stockholm consists often of a portion psychology and two servings of technology.

During the shell host Jacob Norrby and Jan Herrlin makes visits in the workshop during the ride Insane, then frightened to dark fears in the field last news: Haunted House of Nightmares.

On the rock coaster Insane drawn carriages to the top and then slowed way down with magnets. The baskets spins, causing no rides are alike. The attraction was built in 2009 and has a “scary safety factor” of four – on a scale where kids bumper cars have one. Not much in the design is picked from the shelf. The drive wheels are custom made, for example, for “white knuckle rides” by an American company.

– The default is well bolt and nut, says Peter Andersson, chief technology officer of Grona Lund.

House of Nightmares is seemingly calmer, a haunted house where visitors walk around on their own feet . It has been developed with an American company who are experts in animatronik, the art of building illusory moving figures with mechanics. The state of the art robots are compressed air controlled.

– There is a great difference between these dolls, compared with the old animatroniken. These have very much movement in the face and eyes, says Patrik Ekermann, attraction techniques.

The illusions amplified laser projections of smoke, noise and votes of all kinds and live actors that scares house guests.

Jacob Norrby run a round of tests. The camera reveals inexorably he jumps like a rabbit when the house surprises strikes. The fairground is apparently excited even when you know how it works.

– It is almost good to be out there again, says Jacob Norrby.
