Sjöbogatan.
Healthcare center in Sjöbogatan has tested the new mobile technology in patients with heart failure. The result is good and presented yesterday at Almedalsveckan on Gotland.
For three weeks, the 18 heart patients linked to the health center in Sjöbogatan been testing new technology. Behind the project is Region Skåne and Sony Mobile supported by Ideon company Mobile Heights in Lund. The equipment that the patients tested consisted of a wave, a cell phone and a digital wristband. Bengt Dagner, contact the Association Ystad Sjöbogatan-Skurup Heart Lung, one of the test subjects.
– It has worked really well, and the equipment was easy to use.
Extra tabs
Both he and his wife Kerstin Dagner, who also suffer from heart failure, has been weighing yourself in the morning and evening. The data have been recorded on the mobile phone and via a transmitter in the digital wristband sent to the medical center in Sjöbogatan thus been able to have an extra eye on the patients.
– When you suffer from heart failure, you can collect the water. Therefore, one can eliminate the risk of deterioration if you have an eye on their weight, says Bengt Dagner.
Ingrid Berntsson, district nurse and heart failure nurse, hoping that future technology will make it easier for patients.
– Frequent weighing is made regularly in the beginning but then forgotten. Technology can help to get a daily routine.
Happy with the study
Although MacDonald, Director of Operations at the health center , is pleased with the study.
– We have only tested the technique and conducted an evaluation of it. Any evaluation of the benefits we have not done. It may in such cases be in a second step, and with far more patients, he says.
Slipper worry unnecessarily
For Kerstin Dagner it is mainly about avoiding worry needlessly.
– If I do not take diuretics so does my weight. Now I have been able to keep track of my weight and it is reassuring that there is someone who checks one’s values.
– Many heart patients worry a lot. Any tool that can help us is good. And so we do not need to run to the health center every day, says Bengt Dagner.
