New technology can stop pretty role – Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

Hacking today remain undetected for months can be revealed in a second and, by extension, the new technology also mean the end for pretty role.

Today’s data security to build protective walls around computers or servers. With security software and firewalls, we try to stop malware and other types of intrusions. The war goes as most people probably do not know anything further. Computer criminals are earning huge money on their business and can continuously develop its technology.

Ericsson, together with the small Estonian security company GuardTime chosen a new approach – if you can not protect your computers so you can instead make all the data sure. It is useless to try to calculate how many billions of files it is about because the number is growing every second. On the computer where this writing there are 100 gigabytes (GB) of data and on the whole internet is in very round figures 5 billion gigabytes of data. In addition there are software in phones, tablets, routers, televisions, cars and anything else that can fit in the concept of IoT (Internet of Things, IOT).

“It teaches course take a while to process it data set, “you think now.

The answer from Stefan Jung, head of Ericsson’s security products, is under the draw in Kista mildly surprising:

– We can sign all data on the Internet over a second, he notes cards.

The so-called KSI technology from the Guard Time is a wet dream for all mathematicians, but very simply, one can say that each data file gets an identification mark or signature with three unique characteristics: the time when it was created, a mathematical proof that the file is not altered or tampered with and who created it. The evidence that is created is universal and can be witnessed by everyone, there are no keys in the system so that no need to rely on someone else to ensure what is true or not. For example, if an Excel file is changed, it must be signed again.

If someone tries to get into an unsigned file in a computer or network alarm goes off immediately and intrusion attempt can be stopped. It is unlikely that any nätskurk would send malicious code in a signed file that can be traced to the author.

– You can never falsify history. We simply can prove what is true on the internet, says Stefan Jung.

Ericsson launched the new technology at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona a few weeks ago and expects to have it in operation during the third quarter of this year.

It is sold is a KSI client that signs the files and the potential buyer is telecom and broadband operators, banks, insurance companies, government agencies and all others who are interested in secure data. As an ordinary consumer can take advantage of the technology if it is provided by your mobile or broadband service provider.

One of the major advantages is that the technology is not based on encryption. When the whistle-blower Edward Snowden stole documents from the security NSA, he had come across a fellow worker’s encryption keys and he hid the interference by changing the system’s log files.

– Snowden had been detected directly with this system, says Stefan Jung.

The technology can obviously be used to reduce the role’s pretty activities and the whole problem of phishing when authenticity can be verified and the sender traced. But does this mean the end of anonymity on the Internet?

– It depends on how the technology is implemented. We see this rather as a way to ensure that personally identifiable information is handled correctly in relation to laws and regulations, and that it can be proved, which is basically impossible today.

Television: Technology for young people – Skovde News

Training. Skaraborgs industry is investing heavily to attract young people to the industry.

It is called Opportunity World and is about to get young people interested in different professions in technology and industry. In Skövde visit 1500 students in eighth grade from all over Skaraborg for eight days.

– There’s been quite an investment in the very long run, where it is hoped that students will gain interest and read up on a profession enable companies to get more manpower in the future, says Hillevi Larsson, process manager at the Technical College that serves as a bridge between schools and business.

– Businesses are really worried about how their future will look like. In Skaraborg we are the mighty big in terms of industry and you are afraid that not enough people should educate themselves.

The concern is not whether that interest has somehow diminished, but rather about the fact that many active in industries soon retire, says Hillevi. World of Opportunity was also organized last year and was not supposed to happen again in Skövde, but because the pressure and the interest was so great by firms became eventually the same.

– This covers everything from welders to engineers and interest among children is very spread out. It will not only hit and listening but also get to try on a lot and see many cool machines, so it’s really fun.

Swedish Accident Investigation Board: Hope for good information about the crash – New Technology

Despite the damage to the black box recording device (vänste), there is good hope of obtaining sound recordings that can explain the cause of the accident. The box is thus actually orange in color. Photo: BEA, Bureau d’enquête et d’Analyses

It can go quickly to get important data from the black box found in the French Alps. It says Peter Swaffer, the Swedish Accident Investigation Board.

French TV shows now pictures of the crashed Airbus -planets black box – which is actually orange.

There is evidently a so-called CVR Cockpit Voice Recorder, which records audio , voices and conversations in the cockpit. It took place last night in Paris from the crash site in the Alps in the south of France, and the French Accident Investigation Commission BEA reported to have rapidly begun working on it.

– I’ve seen worse demolished components, they can be much more damaged and also burnt. So I do think that it should be possible to get good information, says Peter Swaffer, chief investigator at the Swedish Accident Investigation Board.

– It can go away and be pretty quick to get good guidance on the sound recording and events. But it can also take time, perhaps up to a week, he explains.

The device retains the last 30 minutes of recording before electrical power board the plane is broken. Particularly important to analyze becomes Germanwings-plane last eight minutrar when it fell down from the cruising altitude 11,000 feet and crashed against the rock.

Not only Swedish accident investigators are following developments after the fatal plane crash yesterday. On the Transport Agency is working Gunnar Ljungberg as head of a department who work with including air safety issues. He describes what is happening now.

– There is a well-established system to take care of this kind of dramatic events. Accident authorities, manufacturers and supervisory authorities are working frantically right now.

In addition to trying to read the information in the black boxes, investigators are interviewing traffic management and examines radar images.

Gunnar Ljungberg describes that, of course, as soon as possible want to find the reason or an indication of what may have happened .

If you go back other similar events when the same type of plane lost altitude?

– Yes, the one with the best information, the manufacturer, in this case Airbus, which has the responsibility to provide themselves with information and companies are also required to report to the aircraft manufacturer and the authorities. If it should turn out that there are serious technical errors behind, the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency), which gives Airbus permits for the design, limit the use of aircraft model.

If it should turn out that there are serious technical errors behind, can the Agency, which gives Airbus permits for the design, limit the use of aircraft model.

– Biggest knowledge lies at Airbus who feel aircraft the best, says Gunnar Ljungberg.

In the afternoon, reports that although the second black box found. But not the memory card. If they end up under water, they can send out signals, but not when the crash occurs on land.

But it is discussed to give the drawers equipment so that they can send the recorded information in real time via satellite to the servers.

– It is not inconceivable that some data could be shared in real time via satellite. The question is at the ICAO level right now, says Gunnar Ljungberg. ICAO, the International Civil Aviation Organization.

DAB radio is completely sawed – New Technology

The government authority PTS is relentless in his criticism of digital investigation. “There is no demand for digital radio with DAB technology. Better and cheaper to continue with analog broadcasting on the FM band. “

The National Post and Telecom Agency is a powerful authority. PTS is responsible for all electronic communications in Sweden. It is PTS allocates radio spectrum and respond to radio communications and other uses radio waves are used efficiently, as the radio spectrum is a limited “natural resource”.

Therefore, considering the PTS words heavily when the authority is now complete saws digital inquiry’s report” From analogue to digital terrestrial sound broadcasting “, presented at the end of November last year.

PTS-criticism can be summarized in five points:

first The investigation has not taken into account the evolution of technology and the changing consumer trends with the rapid deployment of fixed and mobile broadband, mobile phones and tablets.

second There is no real demand for digital radio with radio listeners. The lack of both data and analysis that indicate a consumer-driven demand for terrestrial digital sound broadcasting.

third There is no factual basis for the claim that there is a need for more programs and more diversity.

4th There is no other use of the FM band than for analog audio broadcasting. Would sound broadcasting leave the FM band would lie unused.

5th Moving the sound signals from the band 87.5-108 MHz for the digital terrestrial network frequency bands 174-240 MHz would mean that other digital broadcasting would be crowded out.

PTS want to continue with analog radio broadcasts on the FM band. It is possible to develop the FM band and make way for more stations. It would both be cheaper for the state and cheaper for customers who do not have to buy new receivers both at home and in the car.

PTS recognizes the its response to the 2008 assessment was that the FM band would be full – but it was based on the prospects of the Swedish Radio and community radio association’s broadcasts were not affected by frequency changes. However, PTS believes now that it is possible to stow the band and make room for more channels.

PTS says in its response to digital investigation that digital technology in many cases has advantages over analog technology, including a senior technical spectrum efficiency and lower energy consumption. However, there is currently no strong enough reason to switch off the analogue FM band, which provides broadcast to all households in Sweden. In addition, no other country has decided to completely switch off the analogue sound broadcasting radio in the frequency band 87.5-108 MHz.

Rosetta’s Philae is not responding – New Technology

ESA tried to wake Rosetta lander Philae between the 12th and March 20th. Photo: TT

After eight days provide space probe Rosetta up. The comet lander Philae still have not answered the call.

– We are sure that the communication unit on the shuttle works, but we do not know about Philae have received our commands yet, says Koen Geurts, one of the employees in the control room at the German Aerospace Centre Dlr.

– It may be that the lander is already awake but does not have enough power to send a reply, in this case it is possible to Philae can accept commands and execute them.

Rosetta have tried to contact Philae between the 12.e and 20th March. Now, communication is turned off. The next trial expected to take place in early April. Hopefully the lander to wake up when the comet 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko moves closer to the sun.

This is the best app for news – New Technology

“Services like Flipboard, Prismatic and Yahoo News Digest means no more competition when the apps are neither good at Swedish or something on the Swedish media,” says Omni’s founder and chief editor Markus Gustafsson. “But many of them have inspired us both in terms of interfaces and individual characteristics.”

A clear trend is apps that collect and select news from all sides. New Technology have found a clear winner: American Flipboard.

Here are the apps that will guide you in the news.

Here are the apps that will guide you in the news. Photo: Jörgen Appelgren

The most important technology news, you will find every day on NyTeknik. see. But there are other options too to keep track of the world.

Every morning it plinga to your mobile phone. A summary of the news’re done reading, compiled by apps CIRCA or Yahoo News Digest. Instead of browsing around online and look for yourself, you’ve got the headlines served on a silver platter.

Nätredaktör is the title of the working with a news editorial web edition. But the word can also be given a broader sense: In mobile phone shops are at least a dozen apps that take a kind of editor responsible for everything that is published online.

Human editors collaborate with algorithms to serve a selection of texts. But although there are many similarities between apps Ny Teknik tested are also some fundamental differences.

In one corner are those where the user to get a sense of having done reading. It stands out particularly Yahoo! News Digest, launched in early 2014. Twice each day refreshed content with summaries of and links to further reading about the most important news. The stated ambition is to give the user the hen need to know.

In the other corner are Zite and Prismatic. With large parts of the network as the source is an automatic selection of items that the user is likely to be interested in. The algorithms learn gradually, among other things, by following which articles hen read and agree further.

On Swedish and Swedish news is Omni , an initiative from Schibsted, just over a year old. The app can be described as a cross between Yahoo News Digest and Zite. The Omni is a tab for the top news and the latest news, and users have been given the opportunity to influence how the news mix in the app should look like. Are you not a bit interested in entertainment articles, you can turn them off completely, and are you satisfied with the top international news can also be arranged.

Flipboard is one of the true veterans of the context. In particular, the tablet gives it a very magazine-like experience, where users choose which sources you want to follow. The company also bought Zite earlier this year for US users have algorithms that underlie the selection of the app already taken place in Flipboard.

But best mix is achieved by using several of these apps – one that delivers the most important news and one that highlights what you are interested in.

Do you even though it still only have one app to keep track of is Flipboard is the best option.

Swedish maps are released – New Technology

As of July 1, 2015 provides the Land Survey GSD overview map, vector, without license and with simplified terms of use. Photo: Land Survey

A fire engine or ambulance can not find the scene of the accident can make the injury worse. And if a wrong turn is due to poor maps, it is indefensible. Therefore wants Land Survey now make their maps available for all – free.

First released the so-called The overview map, a map scale of 1: 250,000 covering the whole country. It includes roads, buildings, boundaries, contours, hydrography and reference network. The overview map will be free on July 1st. At the same time releasing Land Survey simplified elevation model with 50 meters resolution and 2 meter accuracy in height.

At the turn released four more general maps:

  1. Road Map, scale 1: 100,000 with comprehensive and timely reporting of roads.
  2. terrain map at a scale of 1:50 000 with roads, paths and detailed descriptions of the various types of forest and land.
  3. Fjällkartan scale of 1: 100,000 with timely and reliable information on mountain trails, bridges, huts and emergency telephones. Fjällkartan covers the mountain area from Salen in the south to the boundary mark in the north.
  4. SWEPOS nationwide network services DGNSS for measuring and positioning with meter accuracy. The database can be used to build positioning applications for standard mobile phones.

– Our goal is to try to increase the use of geodata in society – both in the commercial and public sectors. It will be facilitated by making it free. Now hampered by the charge, says Peter Nyhlén, director of the National Land Survey maps sale, to new technologies.

He mentions the major forest fire in Bergslagen in the summer when the first fire engine had old maps and drove wrong – with devastating consequences.

– Right in the area we had put all new roads back in 2003, but the rescue had not updated its material, probably because it cost money, says Peter Nyhlén.

The information Land Survey now gradually opening makes available during the open data license Creative Commons. This means that information can be used, distributed, redone, modified and built upon in commercial contexts as long as the user indicates that it is the National Land Survey of the author.

– There is a seal that maps from the National Land Survey. It is only we who have the strength to gather information from an entire country. No one else has such detailed data regarding the Swedish countryside as we said Peter Nyhlén.

Land Survey released the news that the so called small-scale map data is free at the conference Position 2015 in Fairfield today Tuesday. It’s about geodata that today is partially contributory.

Eventually we hope the National Land Survey of all spatial data Land Survey has in its databases will be available free of charge, thus also data that today is completely contributory and costs substantially more to buy than the small-scale map information.

It is then on aerial imagery, high-resolution elevation data and addresses. But it requires a political decision and more money for Land Survey.

– For the full opening of geographic data and addresses needed an appropriation of approximately 100 million per year, which we called for in the budget proposal for 2016 to 2018, says the National Land Survey Director General Bengt Kjellson in a press release on Tuesday.

Karin Bojs: New technology testify Vikings roads – Daily News

DN’s science reporter Karin Bojs of the sensational silver ring and Viking contact with the Muslim world.

Silver ring has in itself been known since the end of the 1800s, when archaeologist Hjalmar Stolpe dug it up. He found it in a woman’s grave in Birka, Viking town on Björkö a couple mil west of Stockholm.

On the ring is an encased stone, which scientists have believed are semi-precious stone amethyst, and it is some mysterious characters incised.

Now a research team led by biophysicist Sebastian Wärmländer at Stockholm University, examined the ring with the electron microscope. Their findings are published in the journal Scanning.

The study reveals that the stone is not at all an amethyst, but a purple glass pearl which could be just as exclusive as the Viking Age. The mysterious characters seem to be Arabic letters that form the word “Allah”.

Karin bent. Photo: DN

The researchers also show that the ring had barely had time to wear out of daily use. It must have gone almost straight from the silversmith to the woman in the tomb, with only a few intermediaries.

Silversmeden in question should have been somewhere in the Arab world – it shows both their format and the engraved words.

A few more like rings found in Birka, and they have been linked to a Muslim culture called seljuk, and was widespread in eastern Turkey, Syria and Iran. But the other rings have no inscriptions. Therefore, it is now examined the ring unique. It is an indisputable evidence of close contacts between Mälardalen and the Muslim world already 1200 years ago.

Other types of sources have long borne witness to such contacts. For example, Arabian silver. Both the Icelandic sagas and rune stones says on “Särkland” – which has been interpreted as “Saracen country” or caliphate in Baghdad.

In addition, there are several texts by Arab writers, such as the Arab Ibn Fadlan and Ibn Khordadbeh, which tells of long, ruddy men from the north who traveled by boat on the rivers and traded in furs and slaves. These texts depict some very unpleasant behavior, like how “Rus” treated his slave girls, and has by some researchers dismissed as unreliable.

Today’s technical findings make such ancient written sources can be read in a new light .

It is also possible to see how the Vikings from Norway have left some descendants after him in Scotland and northern England, while the Vikings from current Denmark and southern Sweden were focused on South East of England.

In this week’s edition of the journal Nature came another study that reveals the Scandinavian Vikings’ movements. Stephen Leslie and his collaborators published a major study of contemporary Brit Planters DNA.

Their results confirm that Scandinavians left genetic traces in the British Isles. But maybe not so much as one would think.

The most obvious Viking heritage in the Orkney Islands, where about one third of the population’s predisposition can be traced back to the current Norway. You can also see how the Vikings from Norway have left some descendants after him in Scotland and northern England, while the Vikings from current Denmark and southern Sweden were focused on South East of England.

Overall, the study shows that Scandinavian Vikings left rather modest genetic inheritance behind in the UK. At least it looks like with the technology that scientists behind the Nature study has used.

However, there are different kind of DNA technology, which among other things has begun to be used by genealogists who can actually track how our relatives among the Vikings traveled around the world and produced children. (It works best for straight fädernelinjer, but also straight dam line lines provide certain information.)

So far, both written sources, archaeological and DNA told me most about the Vikings’ travels westwards, to Iceland, Scotland and England. This will open a larger window also against journeys to the East – thanks to new technologies like DNA and scanning electron microscope.

Soon extinguished sun – New Technology

A few minutes to eleven today’s solar eclipse over Sweden’s deepest. If the weather is gracious will be able to follow the eclipse on the web from at half past nine

Astronomers at the Ångström Laboratory has assembled a small eight-inch telescope with shade outside the university’s major Westerlund Telescope. The telescope will be filming eclipse and put out the natural phenomenon on the Web from half past nine in the day.

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon places itself in a straight line between the Earth and the sun. A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon covers the entire solar disk. They just get the experience that resides on Svalbard or the Faroe Islands.

In Sweden, we only experience a partial eclipse, the greatest, the longer north and west you are. In Kiruna, there is a good chance for a fine experience. Partly see the weather forecast good, partly covered almost the entire solar disk.

The moon begins to cast its shadow over Sweden early on Friday morning, but cover only a portion of the surface at a time. The sun will be darkened at most minutes around the clock 11. Then slide the moon on the disc of the sun and the light will gradually withdrawn.

All this must be seen on the web in the morning by special instrument which astronomers at the Ångström Laboratory mounted on the roof of the Department of Physics and Astronomy – provided the weather is clear.

– Yes, it is, unfortunately. If it is cloudy, it will not appear at all. It just gets black because of the sharp filters that we use to weaken the light from the sun, says Ola Karlsson, PhD and astronomer at the Ångström Laboratory.

It is he who initiated the webcast. The idea emerged when it planned a tour of the solar eclipse on the big science festival that the University organizes for schoolchildren in Uppsala for three days.

– It was a colleague who suggested that we could simultaneously posting pictures online, says Ola Karlsson to new technologies.

A solar eclipse of the dignity that we get the chance to consider from Sweden on Friday arouse interest among both the general public, hobby astronomers, professional astronomers and scientists.

Despite that the moon obscures much of the sun’s light is still too hard to look directly at no great eye protection, type welding glasses or specially designed solförmörkelseglasögon. To that at the great eclipse in the 1950s using blackened glass is not recommended today. There are better protected.

The safest is, however, an indirect picture – that with a mirror facing the sun cast a reflection of the sun on a wall ten feet away. Or to use an ordinary pair of binoculars and project the image of the eclipse on a piece of paper behind the telescope. Then you get a picture of the eclipse without risking the eyes.

– But you must not look through the binoculars, says Ola Karlsson.

However, you can use your mobile camera.

– You can put a” look “filter in front of the camera, take a picture and look at the picture instead. It is absolutely safe – for the eye, anyway, he said.

Villa Covenant: The verdict on enstegstätade facades teaches send shockwaves through … – New Technology

The Supreme Court told they enstegstätade facades will send a shock wave through the Construction Sweden, according to the Homeowners Association. But the industry organization Swedish Construction Federation believes it is too early to determine the impact of the judgment may be.

– The judgment teaches send a shock wave through the Construction Sweden, where construction companies have built somewhere between 110 000 and 160 000 homes with enstegstätade facades, says Ulf Stenberg, General Counsel for Homeowners’ Association, in a statement.

Högsta court announced on Thursday that Myresjöhus choice of enstegstätade facades of 32 houses in Svedala is a defect in the contract. Ulf Stenberg looks judgment as a great success for consumers:

– The Supreme Court gives judgment by a crystal clear signal to the construction industry to shape up.

Ulf Stenberg also points out that the savings made by building with enstegstätade facades now may prove to be costly:

– Construction companies saved in around SEK 25 000 per house when they chose to build houses with enstegstätade facades compared with a ventilated facade. At the same time, it can cost half a million dollars to replace a moisture-damaged Exterior insulation finishing system, he said.

The Supreme Court’s statement on Thursday is a favorable decision in the case. The issue of Myresjöhus have to pay for the rebuilding of houses remains to be examined.

– No matter what the Supreme Court come to terms liability, learn construction industry be forced to think twice before they put any new hesitant approach in the construction market. The risk is that it might otherwise stand construction companies dearly, says Ulf Stenberg in the press release.

But the industry organization Swedish Construction Federation believes it is too early knowing the implications of the Supreme Court’s ruling will have on the industry, because the court has not yet taken a position on the question of liability.

– According to the judgment there is a fault in the works, but to the contractor shall also be responsible to correct the error requires both that the error is essential and that it depends on the negligence and it has HD yet taken a position, says Magnus Kylhed, construction lawyer at the Swedish Construction Federation, in a press release.

Experts: Saudi Arabia says nothing about nuclear weapons – but do the more – New Technology

– Saudi Arabia’s government says almost nothing about nuclear weapons, but it makes all the more, says Per Jonsson, Middle East expert at the Institute of International Affairs.

Per Jonsson.

     Per Jonsson. Photo: Magnus Bergström

Per Jönsson has several examples of how the Saudi government has acted over the years.

– They have acquired a certain capacity through medium-range missiles that they bought from China in particular. Then they have a very advanced cooperation with Pakistan. It is likely out that when Saudi Arabia wants, they can buy ready-made nuclear warheads to put on these missiles.

Per Jonsson says that the work has been going on for at least fifteen years for response if Iran were to develop nuclear weapons.

– Thus it is not certain that you do it. But you possess the option, as a deterrent, “If you do so, we do so.”

Per Jonsson says it does not know anything about the technology Sweden was about to sell to Saudi Arabia. But he makes reference to the possibility that the Swedish technology could be used for “refinement of missiles”, “hanging on more technology properly primitive missiles”.

Is Saudi Arabia a dangerous country to export nuclear technology relevant to?

– If you think it’s dangerous to nuclear proliferation , yes. And I think well all people?

If there is a domestic Saudi nuclear program (without Pakistani assistance), it has, however, very long way to go according to all experts, Ny Teknik been in contact with.

– They have trained some nuclear engineers in Russia, but they have a long way to go, says Shannon Kile, head of the Nuclear Weapons Project at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, SIPRI.

It is common for countries with nuclear weapons programs use a peaceful nuclear program where you can build up some skills. Saudi Arabia has no civilian nuclear energy today, but in December 2006, the Gulf countries, where Saudi Arabia is the largest, a common nuclear study.

United Arab Emirates began construction of four reactors in 2012. In June 2011, Saudi Arabia announced its own plan to build 16 reactors by 2032, one of the world’s nuclear program.

The Saudi government has also, according to the prestigious Nuclear Threat Institute, expressed interest to enrich uranium centrifuges. It is motivated by the civilian nuclear energy needs, just as representatives of Iran stated.

As Per Jönsson mentioned bought Saudi Arabia missiles from China in 1980 century. They are of type Dongfeng 3, is 21 meters long and has a long range (up to 2 500 km). They were developed in China to carry nuclear weapons.

They can also carry conventional warheads, but then has a low accuracy. Half of the rockets would miss the target by more than two kilometers, according Siemon Wezeman, who researches among other miltärteknologi at SIPRI.

– If you have a specific goal you will miss it, says Wezeman.

Is the rocket usable without nuclear weapons?

– Not really. Possibly it can be used for terror against a big city – it does not matter if it hits the Old Town or the far end of Sveavägen.
