Swedish wooden planned to replace the plastic – New Technology

Reduced demand for paper makes the woods looking for ways to do some good. One solution is increasingly sophisticated shaped packages.

There has invested a great deal of research in recent years to refine the Swedish forest products to be more than pulp, paper and sawn timber.

One application is in packaging, where it can become a sustainable replacement for fossil-based plastics such as Pet.

– Swedish paper is as familiar in the world. Now we see how research on our strong, long paper fibers produced results, says Björn Florman the material library.

BillerudKorsnäs has launched material Fibre Form including packaging for food. Bjorn Florman sees several advantages to this, besides the purely environmental.

– It can be molded into machines that usually processes the plastic and it is possible to shape it in different ways, such as dubbelkröka it.

Smarter transportation provides better logistics – New Technology

Driverless trucks, known as AGVs, is a way to solve internal logistics, as here at Volvo Köping. But you have to keep an eye on the flows in the plant first. Photo: Cecilia Larsson

Many companies spend a lot of time on truck transportation of both materials and finished products. But there is time, money and security to gain by minimizing these shipments. At the same time, many shipments avoided by factory layout to be reviewed. And to optimize the flow is always step one – before investing in automating transport.

The experts in Automationsnästet giving the advice you need to get started. They know what opportunities are available and how to act in order to achieve better profitability through clever internal logistics.

Researchers at Mälardalen University

first What are the challenges today with automating internal logistics?

internal logistics is not considered to value creation and despite its importance has been overlooked. Often lacking a clear responsibility and ownership for these activities, and traditionally internal logistics something that many businesses get stuck in contract to run rather than developing. Therefore often lack insight into how the internal logistic system actually performs, and more importantly – how the company wants it to perform. Something conditions for successful automation measures.

second How can automated internal logistics enhance the company’s production and competitiveness?

There is great potential gains by automating internal logistics, such as cost, lead time, ergonomics and quality. It requires, however, that automation is used correctly, to identify and select the right type, level and uses to achieve its goals. It is therefore important to ensure the production system as a whole and understand both conditions and needs. This is when the whole system operates and performs best as the major competitive advantages are achieved.

3rd What is the future and how do you start to automate their internal logistics?

There are many potential applications for automation in internal logistics. Having a good understanding and overview of their activities, and a clear vision is essential for successful automation. Therefore, dialogue with internal customers Centre. To have a vision and strategy, both for its internal logistics and the use of automation, providing good base for evaluation and decision, thereby supporting the development. To revise, adapt and develop their processes before automating is also important.

Managing Your Flow

first What are the challenges today with automating internal logistics?

The technology of auto transportation has gone beyond the level of maturity in most businesses. The challenge is to able to take the required steps and that provides the conditions for auto transport. You need to set up a vision of where they want and work from there. Some natural step is usually capped flow, standardization, balancing and pace. It is only when you perform these steps as auto transport adds productivity something.

second How can automated internal logistics enhance the company’s production and competitiveness?

Automatic transport in the right place is a cost effective solution and can be used in the lean development to go from chaotic driving truck for time-based livelihood systems and proached flows. Auto transport places greater demands on the organization, for example around standardized approach and robust processes. It is necessary to have created the right conditions in their production systems. And this affects their productivity in a positive way.

3rd What is the future and how do you start to automate their internal logistics?

To automate transportation in a business that is not optimized or automating transportation without strategy is just a waste. Start by identifying your feeds. Here is value stream mapping is a powerful tool that usually also sufficient. Perform the necessary improvements based on the results of value stream mapping. Only then they have created an “environment” where the auto-shipments may come into its own.

Project Logistics Development, Volvo GTO Powertrain Koping

first What are the challenges today with automating internal logistics?

The largest and most important challenge is to create understanding and change the mindset throughout the organization. In order to achieve profit by automating logistics flow must be set in relation to what the implementation cost will be, perhaps require a material handling system that enables management and creation of visual feeds. The technology of AGC’s, ie automatic “bearer” with the carriage, there, and we believe it relatively proven.

second How can automated internal logistics enhance the company’s production and competitiveness?

Automation provides process stability making it easier to calculate the flow and holding inventory. Scanners of various types enhances safety in the vicinity of pedestrians. The flows are visual while profit increases with decreasing labor needs. As the vehicles move slower, they wear is not as hard as manual trucks, resulting in longer life and lower maintenance costs. The systems are offering almost total control of maintenance costs.

3rd What is the future and how do you start to automate their internal logistics?

We believe that manual trucks have reached their peak of the development curve of efficiency. Automation with such AGC will more and more. Once you start, it’s easiest to start on a small scale, on a pilot area where the process is stable and easy to obtain a good overview. Take help if the home blindness can do that you can not see the big picture in its own flow and layouts. A thorough situation analysis is crucial Standardize the solution and spread throughout the organization.

Industry begins and ends in Gnosj̦ РNew Technology

CHRONICLE. What came first, the chicken or the egg? It’s a common dilemma that has been discussed for centuries. Where to start and end a circle? It has certainly been discussed as long.

In our world, one might ask what is important: the manufacturing industry or service companies? I think the answer to it is equally difficult to give as on the first questions. And the answer will certainly vary depending on who you ask.

The interesting thing is that they are interrelated and interdependent. A little reflection is that Volvo IT is one of the nation’s largest IT operations with customers far beyond the automotive industry. Dedicate the equation a thought.

Growing with and use each other is the basis for Gnosjöandan, ie the entrepreneurial culture that developed in Gnosjöregionen . Typical traits of us are entrepreneurship, small scale, collaboration and networking. The spirit is indeed important for the whole industry Sweden and other parts of the economy that contribute to the industry develops. Being curious and open the properties that can also get the small entrepreneur to be included in a larger context. It is not just about being a subcontractor and deliver the various components. It is also about to jointly build long-term relationships that create long-term competitive products, such as vehicles and machinery. The more we cooperate in Swedish industry, the bigger and better business we can create together. In our region, there is a tangible activity based on these factors. It’s Automation Småland, a relatively new collaboration between about 25 automation companies, w here the goal is to keep manufacturing jobs in the region. In collaboration can also take bigger mission than would have been possible individually.

As for the relationship to service industries, they are a part of the industry to a greater extent than what you normally talk about. Efficient manufacturing processes require software for controls, automation, energy optimization and more. It is obvious to us who see it every day, but not for large parts of the population. We must help each other to tell, not least for the country’s highest decision-makers who manage education and financing of innovation.

How was it now again with the initial questions? For example, the chicken and the egg? For us in Småland starts with wanting to develop, produce and satisfy customer needs as efficiently as possible. This means that we must learn from each other, be curious and always find competitive solutions.

If the customer wants to circle begins in Gnosjö so doing on it.

Sometimes we feel that industry begins here. Probably with a small, but important component that we produce little smarter by the day.

The aim was to prevent the development of new technologies that would reduce hazardous … – Aftonbladet

Truck Companies in Europe – including the Swedish Scania and Volvo – ran the cartel for 14 years.

The purpose was to prevent the development of new technologies that would reduce environmental emissions.

The information contained in leaked documents from the European Commission.

In November, the EU Commission investigation of the suspected cartel. Collaboration between truck companies should have lasted between January 1997 and January 2011. In addition, Volvo and Scania also included, among other things, Daimler, Iveco, Volvo-owned Renault Trucks.

Even MAN truck giant based in Germany, were included. There were also those who revealed the cartel, according to the Financial Times referring to leaked and secret documents from the European Commission.

The documents are invändingen MAN. Such companies can, themselves included in any prohibited cooperation between competitors, align to the EU Commission in order to avoid the fines.

The purpose: Braking new environmental technologies

The forbidden cooperation between Truck companies prevented new technologies that can reduce environmental emissions would start to be used. According to the Financial Times came truck companies “agreed times and higher price levels for the introduction of new emissions technology.” This is the background of the EU rules on emissions of nitrogen oxide in 2000.

Truck companies should have set aside money for any fines. The sum can be up to 10 percent of annual sales. For Volvo, it means they can be fined 3.7 billion, money they already should have set aside.

Scania: We do not comment on the details

According to Staffan Ekengren on Scania’s information department, Scania was told that the EU Commission launched an investigation in November.

– they have looked at the question we have known in the past. We were informed in late November that an investigation is pending, he said.

Companies that are the subject of an investigation into the forbidden competition cooperation can get reduced fines if they cooperate with the European Commission.

– We are asked to provide information and it is clear that we cooperate in this regard. Since it is an ongoing investigation we comment on how we relate to the data, says Staffan Ekengren.

New success for DNA technology: dog poop – Hufvudstadsbladet

Photo: EPA / Koen Van Weel. The company Pooprints since its inception in 2010 collected 30,000 dogs in its registry.

The irritation of dog owners who do not pick up after their animals reach new scientific heights. A biotechnology company in the United States provides tracking of the guilty through DNA registers.

Joe Gillmer is vice chairman of a condominium association with 368 homes and 60 dogs in the suburbs of the US capital Washington. He got tired of the smelly problem, and hired a company that allows dog owners DNA register their animals via a saliva sample. When hundlortar found in inappropriate places are sent a test tube of evidence to the laboratory in Tennessee.

Gillmer heard many jokes, but he is happy. Repellent effect is large. Since the service was launched a year ago, only one case has gone so far that a sample tested, he told The Washington Post.

Europe at the time

The company Pooprints since its inception in 2010 collected 30,000 dogs in its registry. Customers are primarily condominium associations and landlords who require caught sinners in fines. While several cities have expressed interest. Once launched the service in the UK, and inquiries have come from other countries in Europe, the paper said.

Michelle Mann represents a housing with 2000 apartments in the southern United States. She says that in two years they only had one “repeat offenders”.

– In some areas we have not had to fine one, she says.

Relapse Sinners

Chesleigh Winfree , the scientist behind the biotechnology company, says that some customers have come to a point where they rarely or never need to submit some samples .

Well, except for one problem district in South Carolina, she recalls.

– They sent 18 samples, which came from the same dog, but that did not match any in the database .

In the end, the sinner connected. The owner had managed to avoid the tops of the dog.

Real Estate company that hires the service often requires dog owners to register their four-legged friends if they want to stay. The problem is that those who wait until the last moment to do so also are those who are least likely to pick up after the dogs, writes The Washington Post.

Witness task from yesterday – that someone thrown into an object in the room and then ran from the scene – has however not been confirmed.

– We know there has been a rapid growth of fire and we are not dismissing the task in some way. But we do not yet know how the fire started, said Roland Lindkvist.

SAPO retrieves information

SAPO began immediately after the fire with gathering information about the event.

– When we saw that it occurred, we began actively working to retrieve information from both online and from our various sources of information on crimes active environments, says SAPO’s press officer Sirpa Franzen.

Sapo looking in particular in environments where there is a propensity to commit politically motivated crimes.

– But so far we have not found anything that points in that direction, says Sirpa Franzen.

SAPO has staff both in Eskilstuna and Stockholm, as well as in other places, working on the case.

– We take an active part of the work they do on the site. We sincerely hope that we can help one can anticipate a possible culprit, says Sirpa Franzen.

SAPO may also contribute technical expertise and competence.

– We can also have a Own the retrieval of various kinds which means we get new ideas, but everything should then be connected to the investigation is ongoing.

Dozens of police officers at work

At Sörmlandsleden The police do not want to comment on SAPO’s involvement in the case.

– They are free to talk about his possible involvement in the investigation, said the inquiry leader Lars Franzell.

It is still unclear when the technical investigation of the mosque can be completed.

– You have primarily examined the exterior of the premises. Tomorrow continues inside. Work has however been hampered by the fact that so much water. In addition to the technical, we continue with traditional investigative work, says Roland Lindkvist.

Europe vegetation takes more CO2 than expected – New Technology

The European plants absorb more carbon dioxide than previously calculated, the new satellite data.

A team of researchers from the University of Bremen and the Max-Planck Institute in Jena has analyzed the CO2 data from two satellite instruments. Partly SCIAMACHY instrument on the European Envisat and also data from the Japanese Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite.

Using a newly developed method of analysis, researchers can demonstrate that the European biosphere takes up 0.6 billion tonnes more carbon dioxide than the example given by the IPCC.

– The existence of a large carbon sink in the Northern Hemisphere is scientifically uncontroversial, says researcher Maxi Lilian Reuter. However, it is not clear where exactly this decrease is.

Dr Michael Buchwitz, who also participated in the study, points out that one of the study not to conclude that Europe can reduce the efforts to reduce CO2 emissions.

– This is a global problem, he points out.

Scientists believe that they now need to pursue research that asks questions that are still unanswered. One hopes then much on data from NASA’s new OCO-2 satellite and yet not uppskickade European CarbonSat.

Light from tablet devices disrupts sleep – New Technology

To read a while before bedtime may impair your sleep – if the reading is from an e-reader.

Light from tablet devices disrupts sleep

Poorer sleep after reading the plate. Photo: Alloverpress

Attempts made in the USA show that people who read books from e-readers or other types of screens are more difficult to fall asleep and have less REM sleep than people who read a book on paper in bed lamplight.

Half of the participants in the test were allowed to read books from tablets four hours before it was time to sleep at 22.00. Wake was at 06.00 the following morning. The other half read paper books.

A first examination session took place five evenings in a row. After a day’s break in the test participants exchanged books and e-readers with each other.

The researcher Anne-Marie Chang at Harvard Medical School in Boston could note that those who read books from e-readers fell asleep later and had shorter so-called REM sleep than those who read paper books.

She concludes that the bluish light from the screens disturbs the formation of the sleep hormone melatonin.

The study has been published in the scientific journal Proceedings of the National Academy of scienses (PNAS).

A car similar to the one now presented was presented in May. But in a blog post from Google tells us now that the vehicle was an early mockup, it had not even functioning headlights.

Now, however, a drivable car, and it will be initially tested in a cordoned off area during the Christmas holidays, and then in January to head out on the roads of Northern California. A car that is completely built to be self-propelled.

Some details about the car has not been presented. The development team has put a lot of time testing different prototypes built to test the individual functions as steering, braking, computer control and sensors.

Now they have added all functions in one and the same vehicle. To begin with, there will be people in the car that could be mobilized through extra-mounted accessories like steering wheel and pedals if necessary.

But when the car is ready town picked this option away.

Thailand prepares the railroad – New Technology

Thailand plans to renovate its dilapidated railway system and sketches of three new flights to Bangkok.

The military junta in the country expects that an upgrading of the rail network is both important for exports of domestic products, but also for the tourism industry.

Last week, closed his country’s agreement with China to build two railway lines on along 867 km.

Now, reports Japan Today that the Thai government has contacted the Japanese government with a request for Japanese assistance in terms of three new rail links.

One of these routes will connect the city Mae Sot on Burma’s border with Mukdahan at the border to Laos. A second connection will connect Kanchanaburi with industrial province of Rayong and a third will connect the northernmost city of Chiang Mai and Bangkok.

Japan ago long as the country that invests the most in Thailand, and several Japanese companies have both automobile manufacturing, such as electronics manufacturing in the country. But China is advancing its positions, while a former ally, the US, reducing their influence in Thailand.

New alloy: light as aluminum, strong as titanium – New Technology

A mixture of five metals gives an alloy that is as light as aluminum and stronger than today’s titanium alloys.

Strong lightweight materials needed in all possible applications: from vehicle to dentures. Now a team of researchers at North Carolina State University and Qatar University have developed a new metal alloy which they believe is breaking all previous mixes on the fingers.

The material consists of the five metals lithium, magnesium, titanium, aluminum and scandium mixed in roughly equal proportions. The result is an alloy with a density of 2.67 grams per cubic centimeter, in the same class as aluminum. While the alloy is stronger than today titanium alloys.

-It has a combination of high strength and low density which is not matched by any other metallic materials as far as we know, says researcher Carl Koch said in a statement.

The material is called Al 20 Li 20 Mg 10 Sc 20 Ti 30 and has a strength-to-weight ratio that is comparable with some ceramics. But scientists believe that it is less brittle. Now the group can characterize the alloy and explore appropriate manufacturing processes. Perhaps the biggest challenge is cost. The alloy consists to 20 percent of the extremely expensive lightweight metal scandium.

The new findings have been published in the scientific journal Materials Research Letters

Danish researchers: Windmills lower house prices – New Technology

Living next door to a wind turbine reduces the price of one’s property. It claims Danish researchers.

Researchers at the University of Copenhagen has put numbers on how wind farms affect the selling price of estates nearby. They have analyzed 12,640 real estate business in Denmark from 2000 to 2011. Their conclusion is noise as well as the view of a wind turbine reduces the price.

It is enough that a wind turbine can be seen in the horizon 2.5 km away to the sale price to fall by three percent. For every 100 meters spinner gets closer as the price drops further 0.25 percent. Noise impairs also the price – the higher the noise level, the higher the price drops. Facing the noise in the range of 20 to 29 dB lowered the price by three percent, it lies between 40 and 50 dB, so the price falls by nearly seven percent, according to the researchers.

– The study shows not mean we should stop building wind turbines, but it helps us to think that we place them in the best possible way, says researcher Toke Emil Panduro in a statement.

The group has published their results in the scientific article in Land Economics

Scientists in other countries have had different results when they studied the pinwheels and house prices. German scientists struck last summer concluded that homes in attractive locations along the North and Baltic coasts have risen sharply in price, despite the vast expansion of wind power.

In 2010, the consulting company ÅF is a study commissioned by the Swedish wind energy. The report analyzed approximately 42,000 sales of houses within five km radius of 120 new wind power plants in operation were from 2001 and 2007. The conclusion was that there was no general correlation between proximity to wind turbines and lower prices for villas and holiday homes.

Making is a way of thinking “- Daily News

Do-it-yourself movement is gaining ground. All over the world grow up workshops where young and old come together to invent and manufacture. DN has visited Stockholm Maker Space, where julpysslar, fixes and explore together.

At the Stockholm Maker Space writes 3d-print adjusters out cookie cutters. A robot in miniature diamantgraverar baubles and further into the large basement spreads the aroma of mulled wine and gingerbread.

It’s a few days before Christmas, but the 50-60 people who found their way here dedicated not only to the usual Christmas crafts. Here is the workshop day and year round.

 - More and more people live small. With us you can spread out, says Andreas Lundqvist, Chairman of the Stockholm Maker Space and everyday engineer.

Andreas Lundqvist was co-founded the non-profit organization, which was formed through crowdfunding in 2012, and has seen it grow to today’s more than 450 members.

Maker Movement is a creation and do’s contemporary cousin of seventies punk movement. It is multi-faceted and blurred in outline, and just that is something that attracts many. Within the maker movement explores everything from physician to upper secondary students along the border between technology, art and crafts. Everything is based on open source and open hardware, and anyone who wants to can participate and share their knowledge.

 - Some have stopped believing in the consumer society and will to mend old things or build new ones. Others come here because they simply want to explore different types of creation. Or to just hang out. The love of performance is what unites us, says Andreas Lundqvist.

Workspaces in the premises are many. Here are soldering irons and oscilloscope, metal lathe and milling machine, hand tools and overlock machines. Most of it is inherited from private individuals or companies, other purchased or built by members – not least of 3D printers. Materials takes with himself, but many leave residues that others can use. Each value what material is worth stopping money in a jar.

Adjacent to the cutting table in the textile hub, which currently looks more like an electronics workshop, is a Segway is made here. In other places, I see drones, radio-controlled aircraft, a smyckesask in curly birch, a candlestick in concrete and a number of 3D printed fittings.

It’s probably no coincidence that electronics corner is the person best equipped. Many of tonight’s visitors are technicians. But among the members are, for example, bakers, social workers, economists, architects and industrial designers.

Johanna Pihl is studying textile crafts at the Friends:

 - I bought memberships to both me and my guy if we could do something together. He was more technically minded than I but now I have become aware of portable technology and fiber optics in fabric and sits on the board of Stockholm Maker Space.

At a table in the workshop meeting room sits Harriet Aurell and distributes the do-it-yourself kits. They become lambs whose eyes light up when you pet them. She is a trained luthier but are nowadays mostly to a studio collective in Liljeholmen.

 - I have been a maker since 1981 and has waited a long time in a place like this. Now I’m courses in electronics, she says, handing over some material to Anders Lundgren, who works in the IT department at Skanska and will go home and get involved with their children.

Maybe you should see the maker movement’s emergence as a natural consequence of the times we live in. All the mass production Långtbortistan have alienated us from manufacturing and that in itself has created a new kind of desire to understand how things are constructed and to build them ourselves together with others. Open source solutions, 3D printers and other digital development has in just a few years made it much easier.

How fast digital developments are, and much it affects us, I get a clear example of when Andreas Lundqvist says:

 - People like to learn to understand how things are made. They not only want to download an app or buy a finished product.

So would have expressed himself ten years ago.

While some see the combination of digitization and automation as a threat, speaks maker movement on digitization and manualised ring that hope.

Today Although Stockholm Maker Space difficult to make ends meet. But in the US takes maker movement very seriously, says Andreas Lundqvist. President Barack Obama belongs to those who see great potential in the energetic maker identity.

This summer, let Barack Obama exhibition event “Maker Faire” take place in the White House. In his 15-minute inaugural address he spoke of the new digital technology makes it easier and cheaper to manufacture things, and how digital technology and the maker movement contribute to the democratization of manufacturing processes. And actually makes manufacturing in the United States enabled again.

Production is currently facing an equally great revolution as that internet was facing 25-30 years ago, claiming Obama in his speech:

 “Today’s do-it-yourself is tomorrow’s ‘Made in America’.”

Also in Sweden is the outsider who sees potential in the maker movement’s transnational ways of working. On the Swedish Institute’s Department of Intercultural Dialogue has begun a preliminary study on the maker movement. When the Swedish Institute in Paris in the autumn exhibited the more craft-based part of the exhibition “Fashion 2000-2015″, which originally appeared on Sven-Harry’s art gallery, attached to a series of workshops entitled “In The Making zone.”

Rotslöjdaren Gunnel Eriksson, gourd painter Anne Hjärp and textile designer Elin Ivre shared their expertise during one workshop. And while the French audience gourd decorated their shoes, ribbons baskets of birch root and knotted macrame was also linked bond between artisans and audience and between Sweden and France.

 - The Swedish Institute has the task of creating networks and disseminating knowledge. Our job is to create an image of Sweden and it is included to illustrate important issues. As for craftsmanship, says project manager Jenny Bergström.

Asa Bjering manager for children and youth at the Swedish Institute, in the autumn conducted a pilot project in Serbia. The CRC turns 25 and “Children husband” had a focus on child rights issues.

In Serbia, the maker movement is not so developed yet. Asa Bjering put myself together a group of artists, programmers and 10-12 year old kids who got together to plan and create around the theme “Children’s right to culture.”

 - With the simple software programs available today, the children learned to program in a few hours.

 - Already after a few workshops, the group had created from interactive video games to a mat that plays music while dancing on it.

That as well Maker Movement create together is an alternative to traditional seminars where an audience listens to experts, says Åsa Bjering.

 - I am doing as a method of learning and maker movement’s way of working as a global, shared opportunity. It is clear that there are interesting for Sweden to be involved in its development. Making is a way of thinking.

Police investigating suspicious object in Stockholm – Aftonbladet

Stockholm Police are investigating a suspicious object in the Globe area in southern Stockholm.

According to Aftonbladet could mean a sharp bomb – like a woman suspected to have been placed as a part of an ongoing conflict.

– It came in as an object that sat and blinked a hitch. When the patrol is in place, it was found that the object is not in a hitch but is on a walkway in the area, says Towe Hägg.

Police have cordoned off a large area while waiting for the bomb technician will come to the site. Around encouraged to not staying in the room that has windows facing the object.

– At present, we consider it sharply until the engineers have been on site and maybe we can make a different assessment, says Towe Hägg.

Police said that the object including consists of colored electrical wires and electrical tape.

Towe Hägg says that a person has removed the object from the towbar and the police have this afternoon been in contact with that person. According to Aftonbladet data was the car owner who discovered the object and then threw it away.

“Huge roadblock”

Future flood: sofas, walls and stairs – New Technology

Gothenburg is severely affected by floods. But the walls, sofas and stairs are possible solutions to keep Göteborg dry ground in the future, according to the consulting firm Ramboll.

Gothenburg city center is low-lying and is therefore in trouble when sea levels are expected to rise in the future. To protect the city against floods considering the municipality to build two large gates at the ocean inlet.

But the construction of ports will be expensive and will not to be implemented until many years. Until then assesses the municipality to the need for some form of protection along the edges of the Gota River in central Gothenburg. City Planning has therefore Ramboll commissioned to look at some possible policy solutions.

The consultants reported several options to cope with a sea level rise of four meters. But in most cases, they find only the protection of a sea level rise of three feet can fit into the cityscape. These can then be supplemented with temporary shelter used during extreme weather.

In a brief sketch shows Ramböllkonsulterna was in central Gothenburg as the various flood protections could fit. The sketch is based on today’s cityscape but does not take into account the existing quay or downhill or technical status.

The cost of building flood shelters located between 15 000 and 115 000 per meter. Someone total cost to protect Gothenburg with these options, Ramboll not counted up.

– To find out the total cost needs to do more detailed inquiries. You need to take stock of the quays and see if they can handle additional load, or need to be strengthened and also consider the overall stability of the whole area, says Tora Lindberg, Project Manager at Ramboll.

The municipality sees flood protection along the Göta river as an opportunity to Gothenburg protect against flooding until the outer sea ports are in place. If the ports since being built will älvkantsskydden to provide a double security, while they imply that the ports do not have to shut down as often. But some decisions about construction of älvkantsskydden are not yet included.

– This is a basis for future detailed in älvnära modes, so it woven gradually into the planning, says Ulf Moback, landscape architect in the city of Gothenburg.

Streaming video from rearview mirror – New Technology

Cadillac launches next year mirrors that show streaming video of what is happening behind the car.

 Streaming video from rearview mirror

The rear view mirror becomes a HD intimidate and show streaming video. Photo: GM

The premiere will be in the model Cadillac CT6. The reversing camera will have a role to show what happens behind the car even when driving forward.

This avoids blind spots and passengers obstructing vision in the back seat, or gadgets that are stacked on the hat rack at the rear window.

A special camera lens to be used in the camera and with a image processing software should be video in very high resolution in the rearview mirror. The driver should not experience any difference with a look of an ordinary rear view mirror.

Behind the evolution of video rearview mirror is now ten patents.

Drivers who nevertheless prefer to watch in a conventional rear-view mirror can turn off the video display and use the mirror as usual.

Project manager: Focus on getting the Stockholm Bypass – New Technology

The consequences of the government’s notice of restarting the Stockholm Bypass will be reduced, believes the project manager. Photo: TT

The construction of Stockholm Bypass will launch as soon as possible after the end of the year. But exactly when it will be, and how much the freeze has cost, the project manager yet to respond to.

The government froze in October, construction of the Stockholm Bypass to try to negotiate a redistribution of money from the congestion charge to public transport. Last Thursday the government announced that the freeze is lifted on January 1 because the bourgeois-controlled county council did not want to discuss such redistribution.

What the Government’s statement that the freeze is lifted?

– I’ll get in touch with suppliers to hear how fast you can återtstarta each part. Providers have their resources in other missions because we have frozen the job with reference to May 1, says Johan Brantmark, Transport Administration’s project manager at the Stockholm Bypass.

So all the parts may not be able to get under way on January 1?

– No, but as soon as possible.

What are the consequences of the Government’s statement on the restart for you?

– When the project was frozen, we estimated that there would be 10-12 months of delay and a cost of 170-260 million. Today’s (read: Thursday’s) announcement brings the burden will be reduced, but how much can we get back to said Johan Brantmark.

Is it both contractors and planners involved in the re-start?

– We have said that we shall freeze the entire project as wisely as possible. A lot of planning has been so close to completion that we have chosen to complete the work. It would cost so much more to cancel than to prepare something that was very close. So the effects will be greatest for our contractors.

What entrepreneur has been most affected by the freeze?

– Svevia probably. They have filled again some holes and asphalted again. They will have to start cutting again. They keep on with the leadership diversions.

Are you comment on the situation with these various bids from the government?

– Definitely not. I respect that when taking over big business after a change of government as may be necessary to analyze the situation. I respect the decisions the government makes. We cook by location, says Johan Brantmark.

Traffic Authority should also be instructed to look at ways to improve the accessibility of public transport in Stockholm Bypass. I assume that there will be a separate study conducted alongside the ongoing construction?

– So it must be. Incidentally, adaptations to public transport already. I presume that the mission will be a further study to see what you can do around to improve the facility further.

What opportunities do you see for such improvements?

– The community is constantly evolving and I can imagine it can be about how the new T-track route in Norrort be better paired with passing.

The ministers said during the press conference yesterday that they think that there are some shortcomings in terms of accessibility of public transport in the current design of the bypass, what is your comment on that?

– We have such lanes in Skärholmen for public transport and we have public transport lanes in Vinsta. I know that we can also look at various intelligent transport solutions in the event of a queue situation, so that we can prioritize public transport better. But there may be an area we look at, depending on what the government gives us the mission.

Are you happy after Thursday’s decision by the government?

– I respect all such decisions. I am focused on getting the job started, says Johan Brantmark.
