Numeric Trix on Pust fiasco embarrassing for the police - Computer Sweden

Gunpowder smoke starts to add after the blast for just over a week ago. Police investigation support Pust, built on Oracle’s Siebel CRM platform, are dropped. The pressure from the organization at national police chief Bengt Svenson finally became too great and he took the easiest route and decided simply to pull the plug. A reasonable decision, apparently.

Class=”paragraphIntro”> But it is too early to summarize the debacle. A piece of the puzzle is still missing: how much that has cost taxpayers. The police were certainly quickly looking Pust-announcement and gave an answer to that question – SEK 85 million , it was said – but that figure is every reason to doubt.

At the risk of that it gets a little confusing, I’ll try to go through the figures that have been present so far.

class=”paragraphIntro”> We’ll go back to the pilot study, which is the basis for all the chaos, it was written by an Oracle consultant in September 2011, the sum of the introduction to between 72.3 and 73,800,000 crowns . “Approximately”. The calculations are among the more contrived it seen, but that’s another story. Comes with license cost of the software itself 7 million with additional support costs at 1.5-1.7 million per year.

class=”paragraphIntro”> Now spins we the clock to the end of May 2013. The project has since been underway for nearly 1.5 years, of which roll out in six months. Now the alarm reports from the field started to hail in and then cio Ola Ohlund is self-critical in an interview with Computer Sweden. Here he announces that the project went over budget and so far cost more than SEK 70 million .

class=”paragraphIntro”> next strike is in August 2013, three months later, when the police are forced to take steps to rebuild the system. Then say the National Police for Computer Sweden that the system thus far has cost SEK 126 million and is estimated to cost an additional SEK 50 million until the end.

Then it happens strange: the cost is starting to reverse.

class=”paragraphIntro”> Shortly before that turn of the year, in December 2013, state police told TT that system cost SEK 123 million . Not just 53 million less than forecast, said in August, but even 3 million less than the accrued cost in August. Amazing.

class=”paragraphIntro”> And so on closure decision last week, in the middle of February 2014, the cost has thus shrunk further, to 85 million chronograph r Which curiously enough happens to be very near the questionable figures from Oracle’s feasibility study.

class=”paragraphIntro”> When Computer Sweden asks Police say that the difference is due to the platform’s license cost shared with other systems within the Police. Which it certainly does, Siebel also used for weapons handling system Pär and CMS DS.

class=”paragraphIntro”> But is it something Oracle has an eye on it’s licensing costs – and that of an event are clearly specified in the infamous feasibility study report, I have it in front Me:

class=”paragraphIntro”> National Police pay total 20 million per year in license for Siebel and around five million in support. Pusts share is one third of that.

class=”paragraphIntro”> So whether Police in its various statements unreasonable enough figured out the full Oracle’s invoice during Pust umbrella will not address in the amounts indicated.

class=”paragraphIntro”> Something smells musty here.

class=”paragraphIntro”> police must take speak out and report to taxpayers exactly how much this fiasco has cost. (That is in addition to the 100 million that were cast into the lake when the “old” Puff platform was closed.)

And if none dare to make it official there is sure police employees with courage enough to surf to https://tipsa.idg.se and upload documents to us.

class=”paragraphIntro”> question is who time first.

Error was remedied relatively quickly, but took with it some delays well into the afternoon.

715 new planets known - Daily News

Nasa unveiled 715 new planets on Wednesday. The U.S. Space Agency claims that four of them could be habitable.

NASA’s notice of the 715 planets is by far the most spectacular of its kind. “Only” about a thousand planets have previously been identified.

According to Nasa circuits the new planets around 305 different stars, discoveries made possible by the Kepler telescope which was stationed in space in 2009. 95 percent of the new planets smaller than Neptune, writes CNN.

The four planets that NASA claims may be habitable is about twice as big as Earth. Rotational speeds will vary, but a common denominator for them is that they like the Earth is relatively close to their stars.

Hybrid thingy to beat Apple - and Google - Business Week

Chinese company Huawei takes up the fight against technology giants Apple and Google by launching a tiny tablet that will provide both the iPad Mini and Nexus 7II a tough match.

Huawei yesterday launched its new tablet MediaPad X1 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The plate is a kind of cross between a smartphone and tablet device since the product’s SIM card offer phone functions like SMS and calls.

DO NOT MISS:

plate is, with its 7-inch, smaller than both the iPad mini and Nexus 7II and camera beats the competition by a long way. In both Apple and Google’s mini plates are camera of 5 mega pixels which can be compared with the newcomer at a full 13 megapixels. In addition, the MediaPad X1 act as a LTE router to share its internet connection and the battery is so large that it can be used to charge other devices.

tablet device can, unlike competitors’ tablets, easily into a jacket pocket and is reported to be 30 percent lighter than the iPad mini. Huawei’s tablet will go on sale later this year.

The EU said yes to stricter exhaust regulations - New Technology

EU parliament voted on Tuesday in favor of limiting carbon dioxide emissions from passenger cars to an average of 95 grams per kilometer by 2020.

– compromise means that Europe continues to be at the forefront when it comes to reducing carbon emissions. The target of 95g would save 15 million tonnes of carbon emissions each year, says Thomas Ulmer, who led Parliament’s work on the law in a press release.

During the period from 2020 to 2022, manufacturers will be able to use “super credits’ cars which are extremely low-emission can be weighted more than others when you calculate a manufacturer’s average. In 2020, a car emitting less than 50 g / km will be counted as two cars, the 2021 count such a car as 1.67 cars and in 2022, it counts as 1.33 cars. After each count cars as much.

goal of 95g/km will be phased in during 2020, then it will only apply to 95 percent of the new cars.

The new test systems for cars such as the UN is taking forward (World Light Duty Test Procedure, WLTP) and which is expected to be better at showing the emissions they really formed under ordinary driving conditions, should take effect as soon as possible. The European Commission has said it supports a deadline by 2017.

Before the rules are formally takes effect, they also confirmed by EU countries’ Ministers.

The last Olympic Day is underway in Sochi and you see the sadness on the faces of the voluntary workers who during the nearly three weeks working in different directions. People who reviewed us, helped us in broken English and eventually become somewhat familiar.

TV companies pack already together that going to pack and hallways are filled with technical appliances, drawers and racks. Last Seen recognize the volunteers that it is toward the final hours of the party. They have come from various parts of Russia. They have made new friends among other volunteers and they have experienced an international atmosphere that they might Never operate more will experience.

New memories that will live on has occurred. Memories that will be inherited by family and friends. Memories of nice editors, editors and unpleasant memories of countless hours of work in which all known heavy but ended up being good. Maybe even memories about the time it became a turn to the Olympic park, or even an occasional events.

The 16th and final Olympic day comes for many to be emotional. It will take many many tearful farewell hugs. But it will also be about the joy of coming home to tell about many unique experiences.

Spasiba to all the volunteers – without them, billions have been in vain

IT giants goes like a train - Computer Sweden

HP’s results for the first quarter is a success for the CEO Meg Whitman. She lives under heavy pressure to turn the company over her predecessor Léo Apotheker left in free fall. It appears that she got it on the track.

Class=”paragraphIntro”> Especially nice is it safe for Whitman to the PC business is growing again, for the first time in seven quarters. It was one of her first impressions of the HP CEO stating that this would continue to be a strategic business for HP. The activities of the Personal Systems Group grew by four percent compared to the same period last year and ended up 8.53 billion dollars. It was something that analysts had expected.

class=”paragraphIntro”> Although HP results were well received – shares which have gone up by almost 100 percent in one year increased further in after trade after the report – will it still more seen as a step in the right direction rather than the company’s home.

class=”paragraphIntro”> Overall, , for example, sales by 1 percent to 28.2 billion dollars. Profit rose 16 percent to $ 1.4 billion.
Microsoft is another IT giant that came in strongly in the first report river. A big boost to sales in the hardware to consumers, which includes the Xbox consoles and Surface plates, was behind an increase in its total sales at 14 percent. Total ended up Microsoft’s sales of 24.51 billion. It was significantly better than analysts on Wall Street had expected.

class=”paragraphIntro”> Activities in hardware to consumers grew from 2.80 billion to 4.72 billion dollars .

class=”paragraphIntro”> That it is this part of the company that drives growth is not entirely straightforward for Microsoft, where the margins are much tighter in these areas than in the company’s traditional software sales. It will require a balancing of rank for new president Satya Nadella.
Also Apple is like a train. The company had its highest sales ever for a single quarter. Sales amounted to SEK 57.6 billion, which was up 5.7 percent year on year. While iPhone sales ended up at an all-time high.
It’s the exclamation mark in the first report river, however, was Facebook. The report for the fourth quarter smashed analyst expectations – turnover of 2.59 billion dollars, an increase of 63 percent compared with the same period last year (analysts’ expectations stood at 2.33 billion dollars). It was a record, of course.

class=”paragraphIntro”> results also sent up Facebook’s share to record levels. Now it is up and sniffs the 70-dollar mark (shares were listed at the price of $ 38). This means that Facebook is valued at 177.54 billion (sales for the full year was 7.87 billion dollars). By comparison to Microsoft, with sales for 2013 on $ 77.8 billion valued at 313 billion dollars.
Now there is talk, not surprisingly, if a new technology bubble in the U.S.. The Facebook draped $ 19 billion for Whatsapp is not likely to get the discussions silenced.

Lotus lends its name

The bike in the picture above is called the Lotus C-01. But it’s not Lotus themselves based on but they have only lent his name. It does not prevent the bike from being a really cool story provided with a V-Twin that pumps out the full 200 horses. And yes, the machine will be built. Though only 100 copies.

The designer behind the rig named Daniel Simon. Maybe not a name you sharks to over so there directly but he is one of the pens behind the supercar Bugatti Veyron.

C-01 weighs in at 181 kg and we’re guessing that 75-graderstwinnen brooding over carbon fiber shell comes from KTM. Cubic terms match the fact in with the stove sitting in the RC8R.

First poster for the Guardians of the Galaxy - Aftonbladet

The trailer for “Guardians of the Galaxy” hit like a bomb the day before yesterday – not that it was hotly anticipated among fans, but to Sheeba came in on a corner by trailer spouses worked in “Hooked on a feeling” in an effective manner. The night appeared so even a poster up where Marvel refers to its previous successes.

Perhaps you know the Marvel an extra strong need to connect film to success machines as “Iron Man” and “Avengers”. “Guardians of the Galaxy” is a relatively unknown brand among the common people and the various sites are not too flattering comparisons between how the movie looks and Mel Brooks “Spaceballs” (1987). Not to speak of the open wound that “John Carter” is still for Disney. An epic space adventure (based on a public right unknown concept) that flopped extremely heavy summer 2012. This fiasco would not Disney (which owns Marvel) be with again.

Expect heavy (and maybe a little nervous) marketing until the premiere. “Guardians of the Galaxy” goes up in Swedish cinemas on August 1.

Nöjesbladet put up both the trailer and a snack with Sheeba on “Hooked on a feeling” the day before yesterday. Check it out here.

Internet of things, gadget DEVICES internet and connected cars, it is drummed for this year. I heard from VCC to be loaned a white Volvo XC60 that will be in place in Ericsson’s gigantic booth.

Nokia Lumia 1520 looks awesome out if compared to the Lumia 620, whose screen is of 3.8 inches. Sony Xperia Z Ultra is even greater. Photo: Joel Åsblom.

Now in the days is the Swedish sales launch of Nokia’s Lumia sextummare 1520 based on Windows Phone and features a 20 megapixel PureView camera. The launch comes just one week before Microsoft takes over ownership of the venerable, Finnish company.

class=”paragraphIntro”> Edvard Bergström, Nokia Communications, says that the link with Microsoft means that the company’s products more competitive in the business market.

– We have already seen how many companies are using Windows as the base thinks it’s an advantage to have the same operating system all the way out, so on the business side, we see great potential for this type of products.

class=”paragraphIntro”> Gartner analyst Leif-Olof Wallin says that phones with screens on the six-inch is too big to use as primary units but very helpful when you are traveling.

class=”paragraphIntro”> – I used a Lumia in 1520 for a few months now and like it a lot. It is large enough to be able to do a little more with email attachments, go to full-sized web pages and watching videos in.

class=”paragraphIntro”> He says that Windows operating system Phone means that interest is limited to the broad masses.

class=”paragraphIntro”> – It’s However, something that we believe will change in 2014, says Leif-Olof Wallin .

class=”paragraphIntro”> Erik Hörnfeldt, Communications of the operator Three says that the so-called phablets segment with phones that have screen sizes of between five and seven inches is very hyped.

class=”paragraphIntro”> – But volumes has not really presented themselves, not yet anyway. Xperia Xperia Z Ultra did not sell and the Nokia Lumia 1520, we have not brought in but the Samsung Note 3 sell well just like their predecessors, says Erik Hörnfeldt.

class=”paragraphIntro”> He says that to the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 analyzed what it was that bought this type of product. It then appeared that women were the group of customers that accused most of the bigger phones.

class=”paragraphIntro”> – A Note is small enough to lose a purse but large enough to be able to watch television, write email, or read it on so you do not have to lug around on both mobile and laptop or tablet.
Jonny Malmlöf, who is the PR Manager of Phone House says that sales are very low at these screen sizes.

class=”paragraphIntro”> – It seems simply that customers think the screen is too big for a phone and too small for a tablet. Nokia is facing the same challenge, then, much depends on the operative question. There is a potential for the future when we look at our larger corporate infrastructure or specific applications, functions where the Microsoft platform can be beneficial.

class=”paragraphIntro”> Can you believe analyst firm Juniper Research sold it last year about 20 million phones with screens 5.6 inches or more and at the end of the year the proportion had gone up to 22 percent of the smart phone. Best of all are selling the type of phones in Asia, where about 40 percent of the phones have this big screens.
