The registration of the Roma to be audited - Aftonbladet

Skåne police have registered thousands of Swedish Roma, revealed the Daily News yesterday.

initiates authorities Safety and Integrity and JO parallel audits.

– It does not look good, says Ulrika Soderqvist, Head of Säkint to Aftonbladet.

Two agencies responsible for reviewing police handling of sensitive personal data: Data Inspection, DI, and Safety and Integrity, Säkint which is the main authority under the Police Act.

Ulrika Soderqvist, Head of Säkint say they so far only have media reports to go on.

– But from there it does not look good. We have launched an initiative and have an initial meeting with the police in Malmö tomorrow, she says to Aftonbladet.

“Shall considered data”

Cecilia Bergman, a lawyer at the Swedish Data Inspection Board says to Aftonbladet:

– It is doubtful that we are currently going to open an investigation. However, any decision on the matter has not been taken yet. They give us information all the time and it depends on what comes up. We are of course very seriously at this type of alerts.

Skåne police Lars Förstell state for Aftonbladet that it is not about a record without a so-called analysis file.

Does that sound reasonable?

– There are definitions, but based on what has been in the media today, I find it hard to see that this is something that would not be considered a record.

Säkint: “Not good”

Bergman states that “records” under Act can include many types of pooled data.

– There may be a list or database. It is a very broad term.

Metro newspaper, Patrick Cordner on Säkint stated that the authority has not known anything about police registration, and that it is “not good.”

– We’re down and have a little pre-meeting on a routine inspection of other records already in the morning and I would not be surprised if someone wants to talk concerning this also, he says.

Ombudsman investigates: “Very annoying”

Four entries have also been received by the Ombudsman, Ombudsman, following regiseringen.

Three individuals and one organization, the Association Legal Front, has made the notifications.

– I am deeply troubled by the information obtained. We know that it is not at least in Sweden there is a long history of persecution and discrimination against Roma, says discrimination ombudsman Agneta Broberg in a press release.

– Is it that you view and treat these people as suspects only by police perceptions of their ethnicity, it is very troublesome.

DO has today contacted the Data Inspectorate, JK and Sakint (Safety and Integrity) for consultation of the various authorities will handle the issue.
