Windows 8.1 released - start button back! - FZ

Microsoft has today released the final version of Windows 8.1, a massive update of the year-old operating system. A very welcome addition is the ability to start from the traditional desktop and the old start button returns. But – button works differently than before, it hides no classic start menu behind it.

Start button was removed in the pekskärmsivrande Windows 8, a decision that mottogts of anger among Windows veterans and others accustomed to with the iconic button since it debuted in Windows 95. But in 8.1, you can then select the system to boot directly from the desktop, and through a right click on the start button, set the desktop environment to work.

Other new is tighter integration with the cloud service Skydrive, refined search facility, a series of extended configuration options for icons and other things, better support for 4K-resolution screens, and more.

No direct spelanknytna news might seem. Fast start button return might get an occasional gamer to step up from Windows 7 and thus get access to DirectX 11.2.

We expect to provide a detailed review of Windows 8.1 next week.
