Researchers from Lund University have now demonstrated the existence of a previously unknown super-heavy element with atomic number 115.

experiments at a research facility in Germany, measurements have confirmed the discovery previously made by research groups in Russia.

The new element has been given a name yet.

“This was a very successful experiment and is one of the most important in the area in recent years. It gives the scientific community a tremendous belief in a large amount of existing data and it also adds the foundation for future experiments, “says Dirk Rudolph, Professor of Nuclear Physics at Lund University, in a press release.

The new evidence for the element now featured in the journal, The Physical Review Letters.
