Lighter for public IT budgets - Computer Sweden

A new report from Gartner shows that 75 percent of IT budgets on governments around the world is stationary or increase in 2013. This is despite a prevailing and worldwide trend to reduce the public costs in IT.

Class=”paragraphIntro”> – After for several years been told that “you should do more with less,” reports many IT managers in the authorities that their budgets stabilized or increased. It puts them in a better position to deliver and manage IT services more efficiently, says Gartner analyst Rick Howard.

According to Gartner forecasts to increase IT spending in government and training activities worldwide by 1.3 percent each year until the end of 2017.

Rick Howard says in the report that one of the reasons that it brightens for IT budgets in the public sector is that the authorities tend to see it as a tool when it comes to bringing down costs in general, rather than to save it just in IT.

– When authorities is forced to deal with unsustainable business models are managers more willing to make investments in technology, he says.

Projects in decision support has the highest priority on the technology among agencies.
