So we will play in the future - Kristianstadsbladet

Fun.

The gaming industry is peculiar, and unlike any other industry.

Large parts of the year, many of us who propagate that games should get the same attention and artistic cred as music, literature and film enjoys. “Games are art too!” Chant gaming enthusiasts often high off the barricades. But there is one week a year when we are thrown back in time and devolverar internet troll who only care about which of the major game developers who “wins”. I’m talking of course about the world’s most important game convention, E3, held in Los Angeles last week.

We not had the privilege to be in place on the exhibition floor followed slavishly the major press conferences via live streams in real time and were able to celebrate and spew bile over the internet. But the fact is that E3 finally was interesting for the first time in many years.

It has of course to do with it, both the new Playstation (4) and a new Xbox (One) in winter, and we finally got a taste of what will define how we play in almost a decade to come.

Microsoft, before E3 has been in trouble with unclear rules for connection and used trade at its upcoming Xbox One, dug themselves an even deeper hole when it turned out that the console will more expensive than the PlayStation 4 and only released in select countries this year. Since Sony managed to get a later press conference than the competitor, it was with ill-concealed glee they presented a lower price on the Playstation 4 and the ability to lend your game to the coils, which seems to be really tricky on the Xbox One.

brackets released not until the end of the year and I do not really judge anyone in advance. But when Microsoft boss Don Mattrick comment to Xbox One requires internet access to people without internet have to do with the eight year old Xbox 360 – which improves not direct its reputation.

But the Internet will always be full of fanboys who spend all their time hating the one and praise the others, no matter how small the details are. Ultimately, it is after all the games it’s all about and who are exclusive to the platform.

It’s clear that the target audience for Xbox One is American college student, now grown up and had children. It was “Halo,” “Forza”, “Call of Duty” and a long list of sports that were lined up on their display, but also a lot of interesting titles for a little more “hardcore gamers.”

Playstation 4 on the other hand seems to be more for the connoisseur. Sony made a big deal out of having established links with interesting indie developers and one gets the impression that they are spending more on variety than on the established giant games.

Nintendo, has become more and more specialized in recent years, went as usual, his own way. New “Super Mario,” “Mario Kart” and “Super Smash. Bros “was displayed, but unfortunately not much that made you raise an eyebrow. But on the other hand – better to run it safe and succeed moderately than total wreck with something obeprövat.

question now is simply: how do we manage to wait all summer and fall before we get to sink their teeth into new consoles and games? Time to get a new hobby maybe.
