European banking giant invests in iZettle - Swedish Dagbladet

Banco Santander is the largest financial group in Spain and Latin America, with significant positions in the United Kingdom, Portugal, Germany, Poland and the United States.

– We want to bring iZettle to rest of the world and to do that we have strategic partnerships with world leading banks. Our relationship with Banco Santander is central to our transition from European to global expansion, says Jacob de Geer, founder and CEO of iZettle in a press release.

Izettles service consists of an app and a card reader that turns a smartphone or iPad into a card terminal. The service is available in seven markets in Europe, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Spain and the UK.

Among the companies that previously invested in iZettle are American Express, Master Card, Index Ventures, Creandum and SEB Private Equity.
