New HP business PCs are not available with Windows XP, an operating system that many companies still use.
Class=”paragraphIntro”> Starting in July, companies such as Fujitsu, Dell and HP begin to roll out their new computers with Intel Core processors known as Haswell but somthing Intel and PC vendors recommended to downgrade to XP.
– For today series, we provide support for XP until May 2014, but on the new Haswell platform, we will not support XP at all, says HP’s product manager Daniel Antonsson.
– It’s correct that it seems that Intel does not take up drivers for XP on Haswell. All vendors have the same challenge so we encourage our customers to look at how they in their organization as quickly as possible to migrate to Windows 7 or 8, said Dell’s marketing manager Philip Eide.
The same noises are it from Fujitsu.– There are no technical barriers to install XP, but the new platform lacks drivers for XP and also lack pci slots besides pci-express, says Bo Lennström at Fujitsu.
He says that Fujitsu has chosen to extend the life cycle of a number of models until the summer of 2015 to support the clients who for various reasons have to run XP for a while or need pci slot.
Intel Communications Camilla Törnblom says that with Microsoft’s Windows XP Extended Support expires in April 2014 prioritises Intel resources and ensure support for Windows 7 and Windows 8 on Haswell-based platforms.
– If you want to run XP after you do it at your own risk and must personally find drivers for XP.
Mats Roosmark, Marketing CapTech in Askim says you simply can not run XP on to live in the present.
