Soon time for this year’s Technology Championships – New Technology

Today at lunch is the last chance to sign up for the big race for the Swedish engineering students.

Monday, October 12 at 12 noon, Swedish students last chance to register for this year’s Technology Championships, organized by the Association of Graduate Engineers together with Engineers Without Borders. Lotta Ljungqvist of Sweden’s Engineers, project manager.

How does it look with the general interest in technology today?

– It is probably fairly constant, however, is much to suggest that popular science going back now. Maker movement, interest in computers, geek clubs, for example, people may not associate such directly with engineering and technology, but it’s there.

Technology championships usually have about 140 participating teams, with three students in each. The participants come from institutions across Sweden.

If you should be a bit harsh, is one of the smaller universities a chance ?

– If you look at who has won the past it’s Chalmers, KTH and Lund, who is at the top but I would certainly say that even less have a chance.

Then Engineers Without Borders started to be involved in organizing the competition will The winning the team go to the organization’s development projects in Tanzania and put their knowledge to practical work there. Something Lotta Ljungqvist think can give students from smaller universities a chance.

What do you hope to SM year?

– I hope it will be a fun contest. We will get a larger share of girls, there are usually around 15 percent girls competing, which is lower than on training.

Is there a theme to the questions this year?

– That I must not say me now, the first qualifying race is held on Wednesday.
