– There are two victims, said police spokesman Tony Im told AFP, adding that police are looking around the campus after an armed offender. He has been described as a tall, white male dressed in black trousers and a black jacket.
James Lord at the Los Angeles Police says, however, told reporters at the site that the offender may be one of the dead. Later confirmed the Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck of the shooting was a murder and a suicide. According to Charlie Beck, the police found the suspected offender weapons and a patch that could be a suicide note.
– It is important for people to know that the campus is safe, says Beck.
Helicopters in the air
Los Angeles police urged long as students in the area to take shelter and the public to stay away from the university.
Television footage showed the students left the buildings in the area with police escort while helicopters were circulating above them.
the shooting should have taken place at ten o’clock on Wednesday morning in a small office at the prestigious university’s department of technical education.
UCLA has around 43 000 students.
