Now the Swedish eyetrackingbolagets the technology integrated in the world computer games – Veckans Affärer

the Technology will now be integrated into consoles, after the company received a new major order.

Ögonsensorbolaget Tobii believes that the company can begin to get revenue from the taiwanese hårdvarutillverkaren Acer in the third quarter. It says Tobii’s ceo Henrik Eskilsson to the News agency Directly.

On Monday unveiled the Tobii order from Acer, and on Wednesday unveiled the Acer four products that have Tobii’s eye-tracking technology integrated. The products in the so-called Predator-series will go on sale in the fourth quarter of this year and the first quarter of next year.

“the Predator is one of the industry’s most respected and reputable brands. This is a position that we are once again consolidating through the completely new gaming experiences, which is made possible by Tobii eye-tracking technology,” said Jerry Kao, president of IT Products Business at Acer, in a press release from Tobii.

the Tobii stated earlier that the supply to Acer is planned to take place during a twelve-month period beginning in the third quarter of this year.

“We get revenue at the delivery”, says Henrik Eskilsson.

One of Acer’s four products with Tobii’s eye-tracking technology is a portable gaming pc with curved screen and three monitors.

“It is, of course, many players who use a computer with the desktop screen, which has a higher performance than a laptop. There are clear benefits to get the eye sensor built into the screen,” he says.

the Tobii also announced on Tuesday a partnership with Alienware, Dell’s brand for the specialized consoles. Henrik Eskilsson can’t comment on Alienware-cooperation further before Dell’s lanseringsevent on Friday 2 september.

“We can not lead our partners information,” he says.

Tobii has, thus, in just a few days announced two further pc manufacturers who take out the company’s eye – tracking technology, in addition to the first agreement with MSI that signed in last year.

Will this trend continue?

“this is a clear and important step, but generally we’re talking still about products which are clearly in the premium segment. We are still in an early phase, and we estimate that it will require additional calendar time in order to gradually develop the market,” says Henrik Eskilsson, and adds:

“It must continue to get more game titles with support for eye tracking so that there is a value for the computer manufacturers were to bring in technology.”

there are currently over 40 games with support for eye tracking and Tobii expects that there will be over 100 titles with the eye tracking available at the end of 2017.
