Historically cooperation in new Gripen contract – New Technology

Saab’s partnership with the Brazilian airplane manufacturer Embraer involves joint export of new Gripen on the world market. It says Saab after Brazil’s purchase of 36 planes.

Saab’s vice president Lennart Sindahl revealed on Monday details of Saab’s historical commercial contract with Brazil for the sale of 36 new Gripen.

Among other things, he stated that Saab and Brazilian aerospace industries now together will develop and sell new Gripen on the world market. It’s a novelty.

The Saab original quote was included to Brazilian industry would export rights in Latin America. But now the full Saab compete other fighter aircraft manufacturers in the world, together with Brazil’s leading aircraft manufacturer Embraer.

– Yes, Embraer becomes a partner us on the world market, says Helene Lindstrand, spokesperson for Saab.

The order of 39.3 billion, is one of the largest in Saab history.

Swedish government has ordered 60 copies of the single-seat Gripen E, and Brazil want 28. Saab and Embraer will now jointly develop the two-seater version for the Brazilian Air Force.

Brazil’s new Gripen is similar to the Swedish. However, some adjustments are made, for example, in terms of communication links, and electronic warfare

According to Lennart Sindahl begins production of the Brazilian single-seat plan immediately.

– The first planes delivered will be single-seater. We will begin the development of the two-seater plane now, he says.

The assembly will take place in both countries.

– But we should not duplicate each other. There will be production lines in both Sweden and Brazil, and also the Swedish-Brazilian teams in both countries, he said.

At least 15 of the 36 plan will be assembled in Brazil. About 150 Brazilian engineers will come to be trained in how Gripen produced in Sweden.
