At the Royal Institute of Technology used Ny Teknik newsletter in the teaching of new technology teacher. There is also a wish: New Technology for children.
Students which will be the future technology teachers need to learn to communicate difficult topics in a simple way. At KTH Ny Teknik newsletter has become one of the tools.
– As a technology teacher is not sufficient subject knowledge, one must keep abreast development also says Eva Hartell, graduate student and teacher at teacher training in technology.
The students are encouraged to subscribe, but it’s not just to read the news. They also receive training in how to convey technical knowledge by processing the text.
– We do exercises in which students write about the texts in the newsletters for pupils in grades four to six, says Eva Hartell.
Then the middle hepatic read and critique. And then the students are working on the lyrics again.
– Although technology teachers are language teachers.
Eleverna encounter texts at varying technical levels in the newsletters because they are about a little of everything.
– I think you cover most. It is written in a popular way, but it’s not a ding ding world, says Eva Hartell.
The kids have their own technology interests she points out. They do not always match with what the professionals engineers in Ny Teknik readership wants to read about.
– I think you would have a child side, says Eva Hartell.
The children may be interested in issues such as life in space, what happens in the body when you fall in love or what happens after death.
New Technology’s managing editor, Susanna Baltscheffsky, has been toying with the idea.
– We discuss from time to time about new technologies would make a section for children. One suggestion is to use the newsletter Popular technology that writes about a little more spectacular and eye-catching technology news. The teachers’ point of view is a good reason to think again on what new technology could do, she said.
