NATO debate did not occur at the talks in Salen – New Technology

I expect that the question of an investigation into possible NATO membership pop up during the talks. But today, we have not discussed it. New Technology today met Secretary of State January Sale Strand, leading government party talks on the future of defense.

(New Technology / Salen) After a windy night at Högfjället in Salen – where the Society and Defence National Conference in progress – met with the defense minister’s closest man, Jan Sale Strand this morning six of parliamentary parties for talks about the upcoming so-called orientation bill for the defense.

The proposal will form the basis for a parliamentary decision on how the Swedish armed forces should look like in the years 2016 to 2020. The recent debate about whether the membership of the military alliance NATO should be investigated, were raised at today’s meeting, stating Sale Beach for New Technology.

He is, however, acknowledge that it is likely to emerge over the continued talks this spring. The issue has come “rapidly”, he notes.

-It was not envisaged when the Defence Committee submitted its report in May and not during the eight years of conservative government …

The Government’s position on the matter he would not comment today. Instead, he says that Prime Minister Stefan Löfven will explain it during the party leader debate in parliament tomorrow, Wednesday.

At the meeting today it was time for the Commander Sverker Goranson is to produce and review the Armed Forces documentation prior to the Bill .

-Stämningen was very good, describes January Sale Beach.

The parties were invited to the defense deliberations of Defence Minister Peter Hultqvist before Christmas. They now participating in the talks is Allan Widman (FP, Hans Wallmark (M), Mikael Oscarsson (KD) and Daniel Backstrom (C) from the Alliance, and Åsa Lindestam (S) and Jacop Dalunde (MP), from both government parties. This means that the Sweden Democrats and the Left standing outside.

The group will primarily be going through the motions from the Armed Forces, which is based on operational gaming scenarios and different priorities, and a basis from MSB related to emergency preparedness and civil security for the coming years.

Only then will you, as Secretary of State, to discuss other proposals on defense and its operational abilities that parties want to promote. How many meetings to be held is unclear.

-It control the process is that we should leave targeting the bill to Parliament in April, says Jan Sale Strand.

One thing, however, already talked about today is about a future investment in 10 additional new Gripen E plane – in addition to the 60 that the state ordered by Saab – in practice would involve some costs to the State during the period 2016-2020. The additional plan is not expected to be delivered until later in the 2020s. But this should be so is Jan Sale Strand hesitant.

No, I do not think so.
