Stockholm Bypass: The freeze will cost at least four months – New Technology

Construction, freezing and earlier restart. The bids around one billion project Stockholm bypass have been many. This week draws the work started again, but it will be some time before it’s full speed ahead on the construction project.

The snow whirls across the fields on the north Lovön, outside Stockholm, while an excavator takes up a scoop of soil. This makes giant construction Stockholm Bypass restart – a modest scale.

Highway Project Stockholm bypass was stopped temporarily in October, when the new government wanted to negotiate a reallocation of resources from the congestion charge to public transport. When was the commandment that construction work would be frozen until May 1

But in December, the government announced that the bourgeois-controlled county council did not want discuss any redistribution. This made the announcement to the Finnish Transport Agency that construction would resume on 1 January.

Exactly how much additional cost that the freeze will involve analyzing the Transport Administration still. The assessment so far is about a delay of between four and ten months.

Before construction was halted ongoing preparatory construction work, especially ledningsomdragningar, before the large contracts. When work stopped relocated many employees and equipment to other missions. Therefore, the restart will take place gradually, as these can come back. Full staffing counts Transport Administration’s project manager for passing, Johan Brantmark, with safety being of all suppliers when spring is over.

– I hope and believe that it can go faster than that, he says.

The first to come back to the bypass is Svevia, as in Monday had three construction workers and a couple of subcontractors to work on Lovön.

– It feels wonderful! We enjoyed it so good here, out in nature and you avoid all the cars, says Patrik “Putte” Karlsson, construction workers on Svevia, about being back again.

Here a forest road widened and strengthened so that it can function as a transport route for heavy machinery. Construction workers think it was odd that the red-green government froze construction.

– I think the stop was unnecessary, it was just a dearth says Göran Pour, a truck driver from Drottningholm construction.

Svevia has been forced to perform some duplication jobs because of the government’s various decisions about the project. At the Coop in Vinsta had the asphalt just been torn up for pulling on wires before the tunnel work when construction was frozen. Then got Svevia fill in the holes and put new asphalt on top, without having had time to bring down the new lines. Now when construction resumes must work redone.

– It feels weird half. But it’s fun nonetheless it kicks off, says Per Danielsson, Svevia site manager.

Even here on Lovön will Svevia to get redo some work, since material piles were cleared and storage areas were restored when the project was frozen.

Per Danielsson believes that duplication overall, will take about six weeks.

He himself during freezing started working as site manager on a project in Flemingsberg, where a crossing to be moved . During the next two months, he expects that it will lead both projects, since there will be little activity on Lovön. But since he does not know quite how supervisors should be solved.

It will take about two or three months before Bypass project has the full team again on the preliminary construction work on Lovön.

Roland Ekenberg, Transport Administration project manager for the tunnel works on Lovön, see problems with the politicians mixed messages about passing.

– To stop a project goes fast, but to launch again when you are not prepared, it creates difficulties. This first day is not effective immediately. It is very much job to do out here, and every delay is a concern, he said.

The big construction jobs are expected to start in autumn mainly interchange at King’s curve and a tunnel in Johannelund. What are the entrepreneurs who get commissions should Transport Administration decide this summer.

Stockholm Bypass includes several smaller construction contracts and eleven large, exceeding one billion each. Most of these are planned in motion during 2016.
