News Researchers at cyber security firm FireEye has found a bug in the technology company Apple in iOS -software as do most appliances that use operating systems vulnerable to cyber attacks.
The bug was discovered in July according to FireEye, but the company chose to publish data on its blog on Monday because many are at risk.
The bug allows hackers to trick users into installing an app with a similar name as, for example, a known game. Thereafter, the original programs replaced which could allow a third party source access to sensitive information stored on the device, or “mimic login screens” to obtain the user’s password.
To protect themselves, the researchers suggest that users do not install software from third-party sources outside Apple’s own digital marketplace.
