Dies wallet soon? Hardly - IT.Branschen

You’ve probably seen the stickers in the grocery store, and you have not done it so maybe you read this morning’s news about MasterCard’s new venture. The physical wallet gets more and more competition from digital alternatives, moving into our cell phones and put online. So far there have been about some fumbling first steps, like a child who just learned to walk but still standing and convulsive grip the edge of the table. There is much talk about coupons, special offerings and receipts in a smooth manner will be on hand, gathered on one account we have access to all of our units.

class=”paragraphIntro”> I got a reader e-mails related to my video report about mobile payments. The email came in response to a confident Peter Fredell, CEO of the company behind the SEQR, in the story speculating that plastic cards would die out already about 10 years. The reader who contacted me were thus concerned that does not keep up with the accelerating pace of development. But does he really have to worry that the physical wallet to be passé in the foreseeable future? Hardly, I say.

class=”paragraphIntro”> The first problem appears already when you’re out and about on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Imagine you with a song in your throat and good cheer of mind wading in to the nearest cafe to buy a coffee. Pay with your mobile? Forget it, you’re lucky if they even take pictures. Today, only a select group of brands that start sniffing on the digital wallet, which Hemköp and Mcdonalds. There are far too few places for me as a consumer to be interested. And I have a hard time seeing any of all the competing solutions are to achieve the critical mass stores within a good number of years to come.

class=”paragraphIntro”> Another problem is in the art. Taking photos qr codes I judge beforehand as much too hard, and I am not myself. My dear mother, her aunt, not to speak of Bengt in the house next door, are examples of people who would never think tank. NFC is a promising technique, as it is to you just need to pick up the cell phone and keep it out, and it’s just as smooth as it needs to be.

class=”paragraphIntro”> to Apple on the other hand acting brake puts a spoke in the wheel, and threatens to fragment the consumers. IOS users are far too fastidious to accept being treated as second-class citizens, who will have to stand and shoot a sticker while the hip Android people strutting past the checkout in one fell swoop. Apple wants instead to strike a blow for their solution Ibeacon, but then we add another step to the already steep stairs.

class=”paragraphIntro”> I can In other words, not see any reason to worry about the plastic card survival than for many years. However I subscribe developments with great anticipation, it is quite clear that in the future we will avoid having to carry around 30 different cards and an equal number of faded receipts for things we forgot we acted.

class=”paragraphIntro”> personally believe and I hope that the child will soon venture to take it there trembling step away from the table. Then I’ll follow.
