Now Swedish eyetrackingbolagets technology integrated into the world’s computer games – Business Week

The technology will now be integrated into gaming computers, after the company received a major new order.

Eye Sensor company Tobii believes that the company can start monetizing the Taiwanese hardware manufacturer Acer in the third quarter. It says Tobii CEO Henrik Eskilsson to the news agency Direkt.

On Monday unveiled Tobii order from Acer and the Acer Wednesday introduced four products with Tobii’s eye-tracking technology integrated. The products in the so-called Predator series will begin shipping in the fourth quarter of this year and the first quarter of next year.

“Predator is one of the industry’s most respected and reputable brands. This is a position that we once again reinforces the brand new gaming experience, made possible by Tobii’s eye-tracking technology, “said Jerry Kao, president of IT Products Business at Acer, in a press release from Tobii.

Tobii stated earlier that shipments to Acer planned to take place during a twelve month period starting in the third quarter of this year.

“We get revenue upon delivery,” says Henrik Eskilsson.

one of Acer’s four products with Tobii eye-tracking technology is a gaming laptop with a curved screen and three computer screens.

“It’s a lot of players who use a computer desktop screen, which has a higher performance than a laptop. There are clear benefits getting eye sensor built into the screen, “he says.

Tobii also presented on Tuesday evening a partnership with Alienware, Dell brand for specialized gaming computers. Henrik Eskilsson can not comment Alienware cooperation further before Dell’s launch event on Friday, September 2.

“We can not precede our partners information,” he says.

Tobii has thus in just a few days presented two additional computer manufacturers who take the company’s eyetracking- technology, in addition to the first agreement with MSI signed last year.

Will this trend continue?

” this is clear and important step, but generally so are we still talking about products that clearly is in the premium segment. we are still in an early phase and we expect that it will require additional calendar time to progressively develop the market, “says Henrik Eskilsson , adding:

“it must continue to enter more game titles that support eye tracking so that there is a value for PC manufacturers to bring in the technology.”

There are currently over 40 games with support for eye tracking and Tobii expect that there will be over 100 titles with eye tracking available at the end of 2017.
