The owner of the Rio-Rio is confident that the night’s fire attack is linked to this weekend’s fights and shooting outside the same nightclub.
– One hundred percent safe, it can never be, but I think there certainly is a connection. It’s been quiet otherwise, says Patricio Pons, who explains that he read about the news on the internet when he awoke in the morning, that someone at two o’clock at night had thrown two Molotov cocktails on the boat when the Rosenlund Quay. He had been asleep and not awakened when police and colleagues called after him.
When we meet him out on the back deck of the old steamer stand still fire smoke. He just arrived there and stand together with a carpenter to discuss the extent of the damage.
– People sit out here otherwise, we will see if we can have open at the weekend. Perhaps, he says, pointing to the blackened chair backs and the charred planks that were once part of the Rio Rios outdoor seating.
Shrouds that hung from the ceiling and protected visitors from the wind on the sides are black and in pieces at his feet. Two large holes have been cut up by the fire service to gain access to the fire.
One of the two fire bombs were thrown into the family’s probably of himself which probably prevented major damage. One of the doors down to the old engine which is the nightclub’s dance floor is broken. Probably by the firemen to ensure that the fire did not spread, say.
– I have lived in this country for nineteen years and I do not think politicians are doing what they should. This just gets worse and worse with shootings and stuff, says Patricio Pons.
And he is sure to fire the bombs have with this weekend’s major event in conjunction with the boat.
Then two women have come in trouble inside the place and turned away from the nightclub. Outside, men in women’s societies have intervened in the altercation which continued in what, a police officer describes as a “rallarslagsmål” where a person finally stabbed seriously.
During the scuffle smashes a person one or possibly two shots in the air fifty feet from the nightclub’s entrance. A cartridge has been seized by police.
– I was by myself in the office when it happened. My guards tried to keep his woman was then, this took place outside, says Patricio Pons.
The same version brings another of the staff.
