Special Plan to fight a forest fire – New Technology

Firefighting Plane from Italy can be during a flight dropping 6 tons of water over a forest fire in Västmanland.

Two special plan for water bombing is on the way to fight the big forest fire outside Sala, state authority Civil Contingencies Agency, MSB. The plan is of type CL 415 (Bombardier 415 Super Cooper) and have been loaned from Italy.

The aircraft can, using paddle wheels in seconds bring in over 6 tons of water from a nearby lake or rivers and discharge it the source of a fire. According to Bombardier’s website required a flight distance of 1340 meters to lower level from 15 meters, taking in 6,137 liters of water for 12 seconds on a 410 meter long stretch of water at 130 km / h and then rising again to 15 meters. CL415 is the only plan designed exclusively for fire fighting. It is manufactured by Bombardier Aerospace plant in North Bay, Ontario, Canada. Some 90 aircraft have been delivered and are found primarily in Canada and countries around the Mediterranean.
