Groundwater rescued at Fukushima – New Technology

This redistribution of clean groundwater past the radioactive kara stanza area in Fukushima seems to work. So far, almost 16,000 cubic meters of water have been pumped into the sea.

In May, the Japanese nuclear operator Tepco to divert groundwater that flows down from the mountains and hills and out to Japan northeast coast where they destroyed reactor buildings are located. The water is stored temporarily for technicians to have time to examine its quality before it is pumped into the sea.

The plan is to avoid water contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear power plant.

Since that now Tepco eleven times able to drop off clean groundwater into the ocean and groundwater levels in wells within the contaminated areas have dropped by ten percent. It says the newsletter Nucnet.

Altogether, it is about nearly 16 000 cubic meters of groundwater that have been saved with the help of the CABG procedure.

Meanwhile disclaims Tepco need more time to fully assess evaluate the method.
