Four classic IT books - IDG.se

Sure you can learn from history, but it is especially fun to read about what happened in the past. It is certainly not the case that IT projects are less dramatic in the day, the pressure to meet deadlines are the same, but the pioneers were also inventing a major part of the solutions themselves. There was no hindsight to go by.

Class=”paragraphIntro”> An example of insights that can be obtained from reading these books for Microsoft. Partaking of Bill Gates, and other persons involved, tanks for more than 25 years ago, provides an understanding of how Microsoft looks today. Another example is the Apple pioneer Jef Raskin. More than 25 years ago, he talked about devices in many respects similar to the mobiles and tablets people use today. Both Gates and Raskin interviewed in the book “Programmers At Work.”

“Showstopper” and “The Soul of a New Machine” are both thrillers dealing pioneering project and the struggle to be done with them. Very exciting.

“Almost Perfect” Finally, provides a different angle on personal computers. Besides being partially amusing reading so underlines the fact that not all who work with it have to soar into the blue. Th ere is room for down to earth people too.
