Palm on criticism: 'It was his words' - Aftonbladet

Omar Mustafa today gave his view of the last few weeks of crisis in the Social Democrats.

He gave a completely different version than the party leadership – and also said that Veronica Palm had approved all his communications.

– No, ultimately it was his word and he who chose the way he worded it, says Palm.

Earlier today gave Omar Mustafa’s picture of the short and turbulent period as he sat in the Social Democratic Party Executive. After only six days called Veronica Palm, president of S in Stockholm, he should resign.

Mustafa, who had been nominated by the district in the City and who also is chairman of the Islamic Association, chose to leave all their duties in the party and today he is no longer a social democrat.

hard in his criticism

Veronica Palm has previously said that he had to go because he was not enough renounced from inviting lecturers with anti-Semitic and homophobic views, which he previously participated.

Mustafa today was harsh in his criticism of the party leadership, which he said gave him their full support during the time of the party executive.

– I responded to all the allegations. My statements in Aftonbladet endorsed by the party, even by Veronica Palm itself. Veronica Palm was actually a support for me during the whole drive. I do not now how I was not clear enough, he says.

He also said that the explanation he was told was quite different:

– They said “Omar you have not done anything wrong, the pressure from the media is getting too big, the party leadership is tired after Congress party leader and would rather talk shop.”

Palm had to answer criticism – again

Tonight replied Veronica Palm, who also sits in the party’s executive ustkott, the criticism. She and Mustafa still gives two different pictures of what happened.

– It’s not that I do and municipal secretary Olle Burell decided to ask Omar Mustafa leave his seat in the Democratic Party because of a media drive or the very high pitch that was. We made our decision because we did not get enough clear answers. Omar Mustafa chose not sufficiently clear on the issue of providing a place for anti-Semites have been wrong and that it should not happen again, she says.

“It was his words”

She also said that she had not accepted the letter as Mustafa communicated to Aftonbladet.

– This was a week that was very turbulent. There were many long conversations. Omar Mustafa was supported in communication, he informed continuously both the party and me. But ultimately, it was his words and he chose how he formulated in the end credits, Palm says.

It is true, however, that she wanted to Mustafa would remain on the board in Stockholm, even though she told him to leave the party executive.

– We had the hope that we could sort out many of the prejudices and purely racist and false claims that were pasted against Omar Mustafa. But it is possible that it was naive. I tried to be supportive. For me it is important not to judge anyone in advance. It was important to bring every conversation in the ground but we were not clear enough answer.

entire S-peak has been criticized

Congress as both Veronica Palm and even Stefan Löfven and party secretary Carin Jämtin endured harsh criticism. According to Palm, it has been a turbulent time.

– But I have taken responsibility for this period. I’m glad we were able to come to a conclusion before the party executive committee had its first meeting. It would be strange if you did not receive criticism when it took so difficult decisions.

How much responsibility do you have in this matter?

– Omar Mustafa joined the Board in Stockholm a year ago. The same criticism was lodged against him at the time. Nomination Committee and not me as President had talks with Omar and got question marks straightened. Municipal Secretary felt confident with it. Since Omar worked for one year and did a great job. Then it felt natural for us to keep his name on. When it arrived he offered platforms for people with extreme views just two weeks before the party congress, it was important for us to take responsibility.

Would remain – despite resignation requirement

On Saturday keeps the Social Democrats in the City’s annual meeting. Aftonbladet has earlier revealed that there is a pressure on Veronica Palm to step down – and replaced by Ylva Johansson. But of course, she wants to remain in office.

– I’m the only one who has been nominated and is proposed by a unanimous nomination committee. I want to continue to work to open up the party. There has been talk of coups and secret groups. I do not want S in Stockholm to be controlled by some secret small group. Those days are gone, it’ll be open processes, and I am at the party’s disposal. But it’s annual meeting and the members who choose.
