Samsung pulls away from Apple - MarketWatch

Samsung increases while Apple slowing in the global smartphone market.

The South Korean electronics giant had a third of the global market in the first quarter, according to research firm Strategy Analytics and Bloomberg news agency Direkt quote.

Samsung’s sales of handsets increased 56 percent to 69.4 million units in the first quarter of this year, while Apple’s growth slowed. Sales rose 6.6 percent to 37.4 million units.

– Samsung sold almost twice as many smartphones and grew nine times faster than Apple in the quarter. Samsung should continue to deliver great smartphone volumes during the second quarter, said Neil Maston, an analyst at Strategy Analytics, according to Bloomberg.
