Galaxy S4: Fast, sleek and rather S3 - IDG.se

When Samsung launched Galaxy S2 in 2011 became the phone quickly a favorite of all those who wanted the fastest, latest and did not care about the price. Sequel S3 was not only incredibly overdue but was so much better that technology geeks became completely to themselves. So expectations Galaxy S4 was from the outset and was soaring higher and higher when both Sony and HTC managed to uttering the top competing models. But now the long-awaited Galaxy S4 finally here!

Want to see my new phone that looks like my old one?

Both HTC One and Sony Xperia Z has a design that does not remind a lot of previous models. Galaxy S4 reminds however extremely much about S3 in size, look and feel. And it’s actually negative from the point that the phone does not feel particularly new. “Is it an S3 text” was the question we had many times, for any further distinction can not see. The size difference is the S4′s advantage as it is a few millimeters thinner and narrower than the S3. While they have pulled out the screen that now occupies more space. In this way, they have got a place with a 5-inch screen instead of S3′s 4.8 inches. It is also the screen that is visible most of the news.

As expec ted, is not only a 1080p display (1920 x 1080 pixels) that S4 is equipped with but it also follows the tradition of Samsung’s Super AMOLED screens. And here already divided humanity into two camps: those who are for AMOLED and those for LCD. With some allowance for the fact that the vast majority of humanity does not even know what we’re talking about.

The screen S4 is awesome. It has super bright colors, good brightness and is so delicious to look at that you often want to eat it. But it is not very different from the screen of the Galaxy S3. “What do you mean” you think, “of course it has a much higher resolution.” Yes. But it really does not matter. It’s hard to tell the difference between the screens of an S3 and S4 when they are adjacent. The resolution is too high for it to be labeled in 5 measly inches. There are certainly those who can actually tell the difference with the ri ght tools, deep interest and a very short distance to the screen. But basically no one will be able to see the difference in ordinary use. We may sound negative to 1080p, and we are actually to some degree. The battery is of course suffering because more pixels to be handled and in a time where battery life is hardly optimal in particular high performance phones feel disconcerted when maybe we could get even better time with a 720p screen. Now that in itself recognized that S4 has a larger battery and thus longer battery life than the S3 (2600 to 2100 mAh). In heavy use we notice the almost 20 per cent increase when we have more left in the battery after a day than those using HTC One and Xperia Z. But imagine this battery with a 720p screen, slightly nerklockad processor and stress over battery life may begin to fold.

Anyway , the screen is immensely good and we like the AMOLED better than LCD when it comes to the crunch. But we will not hide the fact that what appears on the screen is difficult to discern in bright sunlight than a ljusstyrkauppmaxad HTC One.

When it comes to performance, we in Sweden are not the “åttakärniga” solution, which consisted of two 4-core processor that could divide more and less demanding jobs among themselves. Instead we get “only” four cores at 1.9 gigahertz Snapdragon in a 600. Same as with the HTC One except that it is at 1.7 gigahertz. And this also means that the Galaxy S4 is the fastest phone we’ve tested so far, it excels in all test programs and as usual, you notice no difference in the interface to such an HTC One because the performance is already so incredibly high. But it is a top model so it is a top model and then to the max everything out. And it does.
