Authorities miserable on open data - Computer Sweden

Open data is a priority for the Swedish authorities. Or should be, if you believe the government E-delegation. The Advisory Board has developed a set of guidelines on how agencies should work with open data and make them available to others. Now, a new service from state innovation agency Vinnova that very few of the country’s authorities meet the guidelines that are set.

Vinnova control service, which dubbed Psidatakollen.se (see box), automatically detect if an agency’s website meets the required standards and Erik Borälv hope it will encourage more authorities to align their open data to the E- Delegation standards.

class=”paragraphIntro”> – There are major societal values ??by making public sector information more accessible. Transparency and openness are important aspects, but it’s also about the commercial potential, to facilitate for companies and others who want to use the information to develop new products and services, he says.

He is, however not particularly surprised that so few agencies get the green light.

class=”paragraphIntro”> – I did about what the situation was, but I think we can encourage those who have not come so far to get better. The long term goal is that more data sources to be open, he said.

class=”paragraphIntro”> How authorities share with the data varies. This may involve, for example, if the data in an Excel file or via an api in real time. That authority does not get the green light by Vinnova does not mean that it does not publish their data in any way, just that it does not, according to the standard E-delegation sat up.

class=”paragraphIntro”> – To to be able to find the valuable data available so it is important that it be published in a standardized way. If you need to start looking manually risk not find anything, said Erik Borälv.
