According to The Guardian , New York Times and Pro Publica the NSA and their partners have

  • Managed to decrypt SSL traffic
  • Influenced international standards to weaken encryption solutions
  • Influenced standards body to weaken internet protocol
  • Worked with IT companies to weaken encryption in their products and build in backdoors
  • Attack Filed encryption used in 4G networks
  • Managed to get conversational access to “a large peer-to-peer solution for voice and text communication
  • Identified and cracked vulnerable encryption keys
  • “Infiltrated” the international telecommunications industry

  • “Basically: NSA can decrypt most of the internet. And they do it by cheating, not by mathematics,” writes security expert Bruce Schneier, who has been involved in the revelation on his blog.
