UN meeting on Syria held in Sweden - Swedish Dagbladet

The UN’s coordinating body for emergency relief, Ocha who has asked Sweden – one of the largest donors – host. For the Stockholm meeting, representatives from 15 major donors, like the U.S., EU and UK. Several UN agencies, the Red Cross and others are also involved.

meeting is of high officials and some decision is not expected to be taken. But it’s important enough yet, says Carlsson. How will the huge refugee situation is handled in neighboring countries, how will help reach Syria in the war, how does one deal with the record high relief effort

– We’ll try to bring some sort of order into chaos, says Carlsson.

Syrian society has gone from relative prosperity and thus some resilience to where medicine and many others are missing and needs only increases.

– After over two years of war have increased vulnerability, especially among the very young.
