USB condom protects your phone while charging - 99mac

By blocking the data pins in the phone’s USB connector protects a new product called USB condom device data from being stolen when charging.

With today’s smartphones arose the problem of constantly having to look for somewhere to recharge. The batteries are simply not as long, which is particularly problematic on the move. For example, the city of New York has issued charging stations to help visitors in city parks that have poor charging their phones.

But to plug in their phone in public charging stations or for that matter his colleague’s work computer is not remained united with risks. USB interface can be used to steal data while charging, which in English is called “juice jacking”. Some scientists proved earlier this year that it is possible to insert malicious code via the contact in the iPhone.

One solution might be USB condom from int3.cc. There is an adapter, really just a simple circuit board, which block data pins in the USB connector. The battery can be recharged, but data transfers become impossible because the pins are physically separated. Some vulnerabilities can thus not be used to steal data or insert malicious code.

There is currently out of stock, the USB condoms, but new is expected in the week and then to several types of USB connectors.

Int3.cc writes that they were completely taken by surprise by the response to their product.

“We knew that the USB condoms fill a hole, but did not expect this much response (about 5 million unique page views in 24 hours).”

USB condom circuit is so simple that a circuit can be … but I guess there really is something in the “simplicity” and marketing … Coca-Cola (for example) in all their splendor and success, selling in the end just flavored sugar water.
