Malmö's IT maintains spirit - Dagens Industri

In the second quarter Blackberry sold only 3.7 million phones. Revenue amounted to SEK 10 billion ($ 1.6 billion), while net loss was the full 6 billion (950 million). The company will now halve their costs and lay off 4,500 employees.

share price has plummeted by 86 percent since January 2011, and the company is now valued at 27 billion kronor (4.22 billion dollars) on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange.

Blackberry is then August officially for sale.

In September, the Company a preliminary agreement with the partner, the Canadian insurance giant Fairfax Financial Holding a takeover worth 30 billion kronor (4.7 billion dollars). Other potential buyers are Cerberus Capital Management LP, who signed confidentiality agreements to examine the company’s accounts, and the company’s two founders Mike Lazaridis and Doug Fregin.

As before, the company is working with user interfaces for mobile phones, but today exclusively for its parent company.

When di.se reaches Blackberry Sweden AB’s site manager Jonas Norberg is he secretive about how cuts and takeover affecting the company. He does not want to leave any comment, stating instead that all the focus is on the work.

One possible outcome is the Blackberry says up large parts of the Swedish office. Another is to sell the business. Several analysts at Gartner Group has predicted that such a takeover may lead to the Blackberry cut up and the parts sold off or scrapped.

Company Website testify is not about the drama that currently characterizes the parent company. On the website it says that you are growing and looking for new employees.

Operations are also well, at least on paper. According to the latest financial statements had Blackberry Sweden AB, a turnover of 343.3 million crowns in 2012 and a profit of SEK 48.3 million.
