Someone has committed mass murder of baby birds on an island in the Baltic Sea.

130 chicks have been found dead – threw the rock walls.

It’s not the first time it happens.

Storskvarven considered a pest. Fishermen have often argued that the birds are competing with them for fish.

Still, it was an unusually horrible sight that met Birdlife when they did an inspection on Friday.

On an island in the Baltic Sea, off the Finnish Maalahti, found 130 dead chicks, 59 nests destroyed and twenty crushed eggs.

– They were scattered over the hills and rocks. It looks like you’ve thrown them straight towards the mountains, says Jan Söder Sved, information on the organization Birdlife.

According to him, cormorants attempted to nest in the area for several years – and killed each time.

But whoever it is that is killing the birds, it has never been done like this. Previously, the birds were killed before the chicks have hatched.

“Tragic”

– I do not remember any cases where it has killed this many kids. This is much more tragic. The kids were not more than two weeks old, says Dan South Sved.

cormorant is a protected species in Finland. BirdLife has filed a police report and the person who killed the birds can be fined up to 14,000 euros.
