Efficient power for appliances - Electronics Magazine (blog)

The two newcomers, FSL306 and FLS336, combines a pulse width modulated (PWM) controller and a MOSFET in the same package. They offer burst mode at an operating voltage of only 250 ?A, which reduces power consumption in stand-by.
Through a built-in error amplifier circuits can provide immediate feedback without the need for a shunt, saving circuit board space and cost.

Both circuits have a variety of built-in security features, an example is safe automatic restart (Safe Auto Restart Mode). This means that the switch waits 650 milliseconds before the restart after a fault occurred. This mode reduces the load on the system when a failure continues for a long time, which enhances system reliability.

The power of FSL306 can easily stream controlled – from 0.5 W to 3 W – through one of the legs. No load power consumption is low 25 mW at 230 VAC and the external bias (bias). Missing external bias power increases to 120 mW at 230 VAC.

Samples of the two circuits can be obtained. The price per unit is set at $ 0.83 for FSL306 and $ 0.85 for FLS336 at time of 1000 chips.
