AMD rumor work Radeon R9 290X2 "Vesuvius" - TechSweden.org

There are rumors now that AMD is working on a new monster cards based on two Hawaii XT GPUs, something that would be unthinkable given the company’s previous model hierarchy.

AMD has always liked the dual-card and almost every series has had its model. Now it seems to be time again for a new model, which according to the pattern which could be called something like “Radeon R9 290X2″ codenamed “Vesuvius”. According to the source in the Chinese community, VR-Zone , the card is still in the development stage, which means that more information will be made available to us by hand.

It is about very early speculation , but the card would most likely based on two Hawaii XT GPUs (R9 290X). Which in turn could mean nearly 5,632 stream processors, 352 texture units and 128 grid units and up to 8 GB of GDDR5 memory, not bad.
