Road Test: Seat Leon ST (2013) - We Bilägare

Combine from the Spanish brand in the VW group looks like a good deal on paper. Even a clip.

model has its own body and own interior, but basically it’s about the same car as the cousin VW Golf SportCombi. Yet the entry price all 17 600 crowns lower than of Golf. Also the price is SEK 13 000 lower than that for Škoda Octavia Combi, which is also built with the same components.

difference is palpable and it depends on brands’ various positioning. Seat is apparently located at the bottom of the pecking order, and thus becomes Leon ST an interesting option for all combi speculators who love to save a few hundred dollars on car purchasing.

The Spanish car is pleasant and keen to tune and just like a Golf or Octavia feels smooth and safe on the road. However, the sound insulation is not as effective at filtering out the noise from the tires. The suspension feels a little less responsive, over sharp bumps can it turn ugly in the car.

Previously, auto brake and adaptive cruise control, via radar adjusts the distance to the car ahead, not been around for Seat Leon. Technology has foolishly been reserved for the VW Group’s other brands, but now there safety systems in all cases to Leon ST, and the price is reasonable: 4 700.

All in all it feels Leon ST as a competent car, though not as refined as its sibling automobiles. But on the other hand, it does also cheaper.

question is whether the car really will be cheaper in the end. In Sweden, Seat odd brand and it usually means that the resale value will be lower compared to larger brands, such as Skoda and VW.
