China best supercomputers - Computer Sweden

China has taken a firm grip on the supercomputer market and again it’s Tianhe-2 at the National University of Defense Technology, which is located at the top of music charts Top500.org. It is capable of delivering 33.86 peta flops compared to U.S. Titan already this summer, was dropped down to the list’s second place with a low of 17.59 peta flops.

Class=”paragraphIntro”> On Top500.org go it be inferred that there are now 31 supercomputers that crosses the petaflop threshold, which is five more than the list that came in June. It appears that Intel is still strong on supercomputers, accounting for 82.4 percent of all the processors, and that 94 percent of super computers use processors with six or more cores.

Although USA since last summer lost first place on the list, it is still strong American domination because the U.S. has the 265 supercomputers on the list. Europe has 102 supercomputers on the list, while Asia has 115, of which China has 63 and Japan 28.

From a Nordic perspective may be noted that NSCs facility Triolith now passed the Norwegian University of Science as a base for the Nordic region’s fastest supercomputer. NSC in Linköping, namely expanded its server center, which means that it has increased from 303 to 407 teraflops, which means that you end up at number 79, while the Norwegian holding slipped from place 68 to 82.

KTH supercomputer Lindgren is now on place 170 but it still Norden’s third fastest plant because it can handle 237 teraflops while Finnish supercomputer Sisu at Center for Scientific Computer only reaches up to 214 teraflops.
