City networks stop direct transmission - New Technology

SAPO want to have direct access to the operators’ traffic data for a new technical interfaces. Swedish Urban Network Association agreed with SAPO to introduce the system – but after heavy criticism backs now.

criticism has been fierce. Among other things, the operator Bahnhof planned to publish the names of the metro network companies via Linköping company Maintrac is about to give police direct access to subscribers’ traffic.

-About 30 anxious customers have contacted us and wonder if Bahnhof will give police direct access to traffic. But we will not do, says Jon Karlung, CEO of Bahnhof.

Last night the company sent out a customer message with answers to questions about how you think about managing law enforcement demands for extradition of traffic through automation.

“Sapo currently trying to persuade the operators to disappoint their customers, but at Bahnhof, they have nothing to gain.” writes the company.

“The problem is the so-called open urban networks, where the network owner controls the last cables to your broadband outlet.”

Some 50 out of 150 metro network companies will reportedly told Ny Teknik, have chosen Linköping company’s data solution. The latter means that the companies will transfer the traffic to the databases of Maintrac, who police reported to come to have direct access to the company’s indulgence. According to SAPO will start in the first quarter next year.

New Technology talked with Maintracs CEO Tor Borrhed this morning. Then he stated Ny Teknik that you are about to deal with the situation and that it currently can not comment Bahnhofs customer communication. He promises to rule later this afternoon.

At 15:00 sent the Swedish Urban Network Association issued a press release. They tell us that it has procured the service of Maintrac and that the mission of the company “is now changed so that automatic data transfer is no longer going to be possible.”

-After listening to the criticism, we understand how important it is to continue with the manual handling and examination of requests by SAPO. We will therefore not go ahead with developing a system for automatic data transfer, says Mikael Ek, CEO, Swedish Urban Network Association in the press release.

City networks continues to manual handling and reviews each request separately.
