Mojangs hit game Minecraft has been used to develop slums in different parts of the world. Erik Hellqvist, CEO of the Swedish Building Centre, believes that collaboration rolls on after the takeover by Microsoft.
Cooperation between the United Nations agency UN Habitat, Mojang and the Swedish Building means a version of Minecraft is used to increase citizen participation when neighborhoods will be rebuilt. With the help of the game, the various construction projects are visualized so that citizens can influence the design.
Mojang go in with money and the Swedish Building sends volunteers. Erik Hellqvist, CEO of the Swedish Building Centre, assumes that cooperation will continue even after Microsoft’s purchase of Mojang.
