Apple’s new operating system iOS 8 was supposed to work on the old iPhone 4S phones. But according to Ars Technica need the new system more screen space and processing power than the old phones have.
Ars Technica have installed the new system on an old IPhone 4S to see what advantages and disadvantages that the update brings.
Several of the biggest advantages of Ios 8 works on iPhone 4S, says Ars Technica. But some features that require newer hardware will be lost on the old phone, such as Air Drop and Touch ID.
IPhone 4S’s small screen can also be a problem because Ios 8 is about to get a lot of information on the larger screens. “4S screen has always been small, but Ios 8 can make it feel cramped,” writes Ars Technica.
When times to open apps compared Ars Technica discovered that on average it could take up to 50 percent longer to open them in Ios 8 compared to Ios 7th
Despite the problems like Ars Technica still think it may be worthwhile to upgrade their iPhone 4S iOS since 8 is a major update, such as make it possible to add your own adjustments in the form of interchangeable keyboards or widgets, greater self-updating icons. “It’s worth putting up with the little inertia to get the new stuff,” writes Ars Technica.
