Supervision cameras instead of nightly visits. Sensors alert when the cabinets and doors open or if a plate left on. A new project is investigating how modern technology can make elderly care safer.
The Region Västerbotten in cooperation with Telia Healthcare runs the project “Safety, service and participation” where six municipalities included, among others, Skelleftea, norsjö and Roberts-.
Approximately 10 – 20 older in each municipality will have the opportunity to try out the new technology during the project. The idea is that the technology can be developed and shaped by the elderly care needs.
– Those involved in the project, the technical services in addition to their regular services, says Nina Sundstrom, Region Västerbotten, project manager.
These include a supervisory camera that can replace nocturnal visits. It is also about the sensors that control of electrical power or motion alarm that alerts you if a person leaves a room. Video telephony and fall sensors may be other possible services.
is no risk with too many technical solutions
– There are very good control of the technology gaps, enforcement cameras, for example, an alarm if they do not work .
may lead to fewer visits and less real social contact?
– Right in the night, it is so that visits can often disturb the elderly night’s sleep, and be perceived as a concern. Some elderly can not fall asleep, but lies and waits for the visit.
– I think the project rather adds much, in such forms as more communication options, the idea is not to take things away, Nina says Sundstrom.
The project will be evaluated at some point during the first quarter of next year.
