Two bridges were launched across the rail yard at Tomteboda in Stockholm this weekend.

Two steel boxes that will form the ramp bridges in Northern Link launched in place over the yard on Saturday. Meanwhile, the railroad tracks under the bridge off. Work began shortly after lunch and was ready at midnight.

– For us it is obviously a milestone in the project. To turn the rail service must apply a year and a half to two years before, so this kind of thing you work with so many years before, says Marie Fredell, Transport Administration project manager for one of the sectional in the Northern Link.

On Saturday launched 62 meters. Steel boxes, weighing 850 tons each, were drawn on location using jacks at a rate of about seven meters per hour.

Some bigger crowds attracted not the event.

– There were one or two who stopped and wondered. But when you are launching a bridge, it’s not like the swishing forward. It moves very slowly, it may not be the most festive to look at. But it will be the builder for us, we think it is skithäftigt says Marie Fredell.

Where is the difficulty with the release

– The bridge is very long and heavy, and it’s uphill all the way. The German engineers who have calculated this and make it work with simple jacks are impressive, says Marie Fredell.

Total will launch the bridge about half a year, and work has been ongoing since April. This weekend’s launch was the second last in the order.

When the entire bridge is in place, they shall be provided with a superstructure of concrete and coated with asphalt. Then, railings and lighting fitted. Concrete Work is expected to begin at the end and leg will be completed in September by 2018.

when completed will ramp bridges to be around 500 meters long. They rest on several piers, of which the highest is 22 meters. The longest span between pillars is 67 meters.

Upper link extends between Tomteboda and Darkness. On November 30, open stretch between Norrtullsgatan and Darkness. The entire project will be completed 2019th

The part that opens in late November has been much faster and cheaper than planned, which is relatively rare for large infrastructure projects.
