ABB is based HVDC link in the North Sea – New Technology – New Technology

ABB will build the world’s longest power connection on the seabed between Norway and the UK.

ABB will supply HVDC converter stations for the HVDC at both ends of the link North Sea network NSN between Norway and the UK.

NSN- link, a transmission capacity of 1400 MW and with its 730 km the world’s longest power connection on the seabed.

One station is in British Blyth and the other in the Norwegian Kvilldal.

At high wind power production and low demand in the UK to be electricity delivered to Norway which can then replenish their water reserves. At the senior British demand and low wind power production can Norwegian hydroelectric power to flow to the United Kingdom.

The order is worth $ 450 million, and the link is expected to be operation 2021.
