Technology and economics attracts students this year – Vestmanlands County Newspaper

This year’s high school admissions are here. And it shows the same trend as before.

In this year’s admissions, 75 percent of students come in to their first choice. In private schools there is something more that has sought a place and at them, 70 percent have come into their first choice.

Most popular is technology and finance program. Occupation Program has fallen sharply.

– There are more people who seek higher education preparatory than vocational programs. It is a trend we have seen for several years, says Eva Stenström, head of the county-wide school admissions.

Especially great demand, there have been three of the independent schools.

– ABB, Grillska and Thoren Business School has far more applicants than the other schools, says Eva Stenström.

Among the municipal schools is the natural and Society at Rudbeckianska and the three programs at Widénska high school with the most applications.

The gender distribution has evened out somewhat in certain applications but is nevertheless remains clear. Among those who searched for the Technology at Wijkmanska was only 10 per cent girls. The more women sought to ABB, where girls accounted for more than a third application.

Many of the applicants are from Sala Municipality, where more than half of the students searched for Vasteras. Altogether 136 students from Sala entered the Vasteras secondary schools.
